Using a PCI-E Connector

Would have been nice if the blame wasn't pointed straight to me. :p
Really surprised you didn't notice the high temps.

Sorry dude, wasn't trying to blame you, just explaining my reasoning.

I was going to actually advise to try reseating the cooler, as I have read some the stock TIM used sometimes gets worse over time, but when I logged on to fo so you already had. :)

Trust left

Something isn't right again, just ran 3dmark and Unigine and my clocks aren't going past 300/900 for some reason.

I think it's a conflict between CCC and Afterburner. Do I set the overclock in both apps or just the one?

Cheers

the log file is spot on as you can see the gradual increase in temps to 60/61/62 max and the corresponding fan profile you have set to 50% for that temp..the gpu clock speed is also kicking in for 2d to 3d once you start and stop heaven

I would be happy with that log as it is showing you exactly what should be happening with a gpu log and in your case has happened between gpu usage/temp/fan/clock speed

nice log ;)

You first mistake and only mistake when reading this thread is stressing your card with ( FURMARK )

+ 5 series ati cards are notorious for having read roasting VRM temps.
if your GPU was at those temps god only knows what burning damage you where doing to those VRMS.

i stopped reading after that.

Hmm, no one mentioned anything about 5XXX cards getting hot in Furmark and I didn't read anything else about it myself.

If I did do any damage to the VRMS, how would I be able to tell? I imagine I'd be getting artifacts and things like that?

Cheers

You probably got away with is though your lucky, VRMS control the cards internal power supply, you wouldnt get artifacts you would just get some VPN recovery issues with the card crashing to desktop...

GPU Artifacts/Issues : white snow / freezing screen / black screens
Memory Artifacts : objects like trees/water/ stretching or tearing
VRM issues : GPU/VPU recovered issues......

Though my advise stress your cards temps out properly and not artificially no way in hell would any game out there stress your vrm temps on your card like FURMARK and MSI KOMBUSTER do.

do it the correct way and play a stressfull game or Crysis 2 & the one before it.
most stressfull games are those games that use a lot of memory to.

I've just ran the Metro benchmark, let it run through 20 times at full max settings and temps got up to 69c with 65% fan speed.

That still ok?
