Valentine's Day...come on then, what do you have planned? <3

Nothing. Got a meeting with work till late as well :(. Will cook some dinner after work, and just netflix and chill.

We don't tend to celebrate these things.. If I feel like going out, I'll go out. If I feel like buying flowers, I'll buy flowers; no matter the day/holiday.

Never been bothered by any artificially created "occassion" where I'm supposed to do something just because retailers want to sell me some overpriced tat and where more concern is placed on how much retailers took over the period than the occassion itself, yes Christmas I'm looking at you too :p

I randomly turned up with some flowers for my partner the other week as a surprise, and that meant more to her than doing it when it's expected.

What I do find interesting though is where these things come from, and on looking around today there doesn't seem to be any offical consensus on what started Valentines Day, but the earliest and repeated potential was a Roman festival of Lupercalia, where men sacrificed a dog and goat and whipped women with their hides to promote fertility.

I cooked dinner bought some roses and got one of those large Toblerones. I am working today so will see what I get when I get home.

The whole thing is pointless but it is a trap that once you start you just cannot stop. If you don't bother one year it will end up in divorce.

I booked today off work so I could watch the superbowl last night so we had a lie in and we went to view a motorbike coming up for auction. Then we went for KFC and back home. She's now cooking bits for the little man and is going to work tonight so I'll have an early one once he goes down.

Got a card and flowers for the Mrs, which she really liked because I hardly ever get her flowers. She got me a card and some chocolates. They're easily attainable man points, so it's easier to just get something for valentines day rather than either not bothering or justifying why it's not worth bothering.

Wifey totally buys into all occasions - her side of the family fall out if they miss birthday, xmas cards etc - we're talking 50+ year old people here too!

So, card, roses, bottle of fave rum and a Piglets Pantry cream tea.

Very nice, but only doing that as it's what's expected on that particular day - meh.

Kids in bed by 8pm, make her a nice dinner (mushroom and smoked haddock risotto), nice wine and an "early night" ;)

Well, that was the plan. Instead, our 18 month old had a 15 minute power nap at 4pm, which meant he decided he didn't need to sleep until 23:45, so the nice dinner got eaten around playing with him and the early night turned into a late night and going straight to sleep :p

59p! As much as that!
Did you leave the 59p sticker on, to show her that money’s no object in displaying your love?

We've been together nigh on 20 years, she knows how much she's worth to me. Maybe a bit more than 59p...
