Valve cooking up something...?

Much as I am looking forward to that, I will be really disappointed if they use two presentation platforms to announce a freaking controller.

One for the controller, and the other for the 'Steam Box'... Both projects fell dead some time last year if I remember. So it wouldn't surprise me.

I thought I heard they were releasing Source Engine 2 with L4D3 as the first release title - no idea on sauce, heard it ages ago and probably totally wrong. Wouldn't; surprise me though

I thought I had heard the same thing previously, some time ago, as way of some announcement, but clearly not if no one else has heard of it.

I vaguely remember, but I couldn't find anything after a good Google earlier. I think it was around the same sort of time as the photo leaks from the tour etc.

Yarp, that would be some serious horse flogging if they did. I know SteamOS has come a long way from it's initial release, but seems crazy to try a reignition after the initial momentum seems to have all but fizzled out.

I think realistically, it's very unlikely that there will be a new game, mind you, I might eat my own hair. They have certainly focused on the distribution/platform side of things these days. GO and DOTA 2 was a mere push on keeping their foot in the multiplayer competitive market. Both are top of their genre so they don't 'need' a new game.

Hence I feel we won't see anything other than OS/hardware.

HL3, L4D3 and anything else is a long distance memory now.

Sod Valve. All they do now is grow fat off Steam and they'l sell any old stinking steamer on their plaltform too. Look at Stomping Land, an abandoned early access game which Valve are still offering for sale!

Steam controller and an update to source that makes the big hitters run in DX 11.x and have much better graphics for me would be enough. Then just add on a DLC to the game instead of milking for a full remake of TF2 etc.

And let the modders run loose. Then give the next HL. As it stands it is way more than irritating to have them announce nothing but the controller.

Love that tech demo, not for the game but for the fact that what we received was better than what was shown at E3.

Developers of today (well one in particular), take ******* note.

Can't help but feel it's been too long for a new Half-Life game. The anticipation level grew and grew over the years until it drifted off in to space...

I want to be optimistic but the internet is a cynical place and I think that nothing short of the 'best g4me evaaarr' will meet with a violent reception.

If it is ever released, I'll ignore the Internet until I've completed it :D

(As to the announcements; Steam boxes, control interface and at a stretch, Source 2 and concept/promotional art for a new game franchise)

Valve are working towards some sort of virtual reality system. They've been recruiting positions related to this for a month or so now. How soon something comes of it is another story altogether mind! :D

So would you if it made money. No one should ever buy a EA title and ever expect it to be finished, if they do get finished it is just a bonus. Sad but true, but no one is forcing people to buy these EA titles which have plenty of warnings on the store pages.

Steam is bringing the best games and user-generated content to exciting new destinations. At GDC 2015, we’ll be giving demos of the refined Steam Controller, new living room devices, and a previously-unannounced SteamVR hardware system.

With the introduction of SteamVR hardware, Valve is actively seeking VR content creators. Are you a developer or publisher interested in experiencing the new SteamVR hardware? We’ll be giving scheduled VR demos during the week of GDC, March 4th-6th, 2015, at Moscone Center in San Francisco.
