Never used to iirc - the TVs I have/had used their own inbuilt YT app to handle the (Chrome)cast, so you just ended up with adverts.
I have a couple of nvidia shields running STube on them, so no adverts via that - until Google spoilt the fun that is, and block/lock down such apps. But then again, the beauty of Android means groups will find work-arounds eventually

Huh? SmartTube is still working for me. Are you using the latest version?
Last time I checked it was broken due to relying on microG. Alternative way is to pair it via Link to TV with code.

I expect Vanced is basically dying a slow death, so casting won't be an option - revanced might have it, or just use a patched apk.

Found the culprit for my fast draining battery, YouTuve Revanced.
Even when not using, it still runs - draining the battery and making the phone warm. I can put it into sleep or deep sleep to cure but then that stops the app being able to play when the phone locked (e.g. in my pocket).

You might want to check the microG settings. If you don't need notifications from YT then you can turn off Cloud Messaging, which usually stops the battery drain.

To be fair the standard youtube app does the same, so it might not be revanced specific code.

Don't quote me, but I thought when I first installed Revanced, microG was a requirement to log into YouTube.
But I do use Revanced with a paid sub to YouTube. Just because the Revanced app is leaps and bounds better than the stock YouTube app.
