Vegas Hotels

Where are you guys getting your prices for these hotels?
Check priceline.com the american site - dirt cheap rates on there.

Priceline is excellent if you use the 'Name your own price' function but do your homework first so you can be reasonably sure what you are going to get before you submit that price...

To be honest I still thought Planet Hollywood was great.

If it's your first trip to the USA don't waste the entire 2 weeks in Vegas, there is so much more to see. At least consider San Francisco as well.

Agreed, I stayed there and it was excellent. Burgr is also great! Would deffo stay there again, it's right in the business end of where you want to be :)

Any opinion on the Venetian vs the Signature @ MGM?

Currently got the Signature reserved for October, but saw the venetian has come up at under £100 a night...

Just bolted some time in Vegas onto a yellowstone/LA holiday.

Stayed in Caesars this time, amazing place, great pools, the roman tower is nacard though and should be avoided. CRT TV was a novelty :D bathrooms were good though. And it was a bargain!

Also did a weekend in the golden nugget which was far better than expected, much better than most of the cheap strip places in fact. I'd rate it above the strat, quad, Luxor, Excalibur etc. anyway.

Fifth trip this time and must admit ill not be back for a while. Highlights this time were the Hakkasan club (tiesto), the new MJ cirque show and skydiving :D Need to give it a rest for a few years though as a lot of stuff just seemed less exciting this time. Still a great holiday though :)

I'm going to Vegas end of November.

Found Venezia Bella-2 Queens Suite at the Venetian for £375 (5 nights)

I've read the Venezia rooms are a bit of a walk form the Casino?

a lot of things are a bit of a walk in Vegas :) , wouldn't be my choice as the Venetian bores me a bit but at that price you can't go far wrong(assuming it includes taxes and fees)

Thanks Rotty, i could also book PH Hollywood Hip 2 Queen Room for a little more. Would this be a better option you think?

Wherever you stay, go to the Mandalay Bay for their buffet breakfast/brunch one day. Even by Vegas standards it's pretty epic.

PH is superb, probably better located and very nice but it would probably be seen as a lower level than Venezia, having said that the ease of access and location may swing it for me

Went for The Cosmopolitan in the end, as I got a great price (seems pretty center too)

Also booked a Group F (Ford Edge or similar) for ~ £100 for the week including all waivers etc. (offer was on through BA)

Flying Heathrow to LAX, stay a night in LA, then have a drive about towards Vegas. Didnt want to Fly direct to Vegas and it was a fair bit cheaper to fly to LA which included hotel in LA + car hire.

I understand the drive from LA to Vegas is not the most thrilling but its something different.

I've stopped in loads of Vegas hotels and there are plenty nice ones but the Mandarin Oriental stands out as the best IMO. It's right in the middle of the strip, it's right ON the strip so only 2 minutes walk. It's very exclusive because it has no casino or shows so it's very luxurious and quiet.

Was just there a couple of weeks ago for the first time and will 100% be my choice when I'm back there.

You have the hustle and bustle of the casinos and big hotels within a couple minutes walk so it offers the best of everything.

The rooms are great (espeically the bathrom). I rate it higher than the Palazzo and Vdara luxury suites and the Panorama suite at the top of PH.

Still, Vegas is one of those places where most hotels will be really nice to be honest. I've never been dissapointed yet.

Booked a 3 week holiday in California next year.. including Vegas. Have done a similar trip before - August-Sept time, and unsure where to stay in Vegas. Stayed in the Platinum last time, which was great and reasonable value, but a lot of the better-known hotels are coming up cheaper (Stratosphere for ~£20 a night, MGM for £30 a night), but after my review-hunting last year a lot of them came up as fairly old and tired. What's the consensus on the top + reasonable hotels in vegas lately? Am i still better off going with the newer and tried/tested platinum?

Stratosphere is horrible and badly located, MGM is not my thing and I don't like he location but it is being refitted and some folks really like it, what other options/prices have you found ?

Looking at the platinum which i thought was great, is £45 per night. My friend wants to look into staying at Hotel 32 which is also £45 per night but half the square footage of the platinum room, but he's heard its LVs 'best kept secret', then theres the bellagio for £75 a night..!

They all look great, but seeing some hotels going for cheap as chips with strato/MGM and even PH going for up to £30 a night makes me want to look into them a little more. I followed your advice last time with platinum and wasnt disappointed, has anything changed to make the novelty hotels a better bang for buck?
