Vegas Hotels

We are pretty easy...good place on the strip & a decent place is all we are after probably...would work the rest out from there. Where would you if you were forced would say is the best option? :)

We arrive, 22.24 on the 3rd. Ruuubish.

Palms means everywhere you go involves a cab ride unless - walking to the strip from there is taking your life into your own hands. Also the place is not as cool as it was a few years ago.

I know been many times, it's only a shortish walk to the main strip. And we normally get a day bus ticket anyway, and there is a stop right outside. so it's not too much hassle.

And the rooms are much better value.

over a 12 lane interstate

There is a nice large bridge;) over towards the rio and it's not far from there.

But it all depends on how much walking you are prepared to do, i walk at least 4 miles a day. That's just my main walk.
And I don't mind it at all, although I must admit a drink is essential for the journey:D

Am I missing something, that Palms place isn't even that cheap - why stay off the strip unless its a bargain?

Because it is a bargain.

over a 10 night trip that room will set you back around $6000 ish dollars between a few of us.

Just have a look at what the equivalent at the wynn will set you back. a salon suite Around $700 a night weekdays, and at least double that weekends. So around $8000-$9000 so quite a saving. Also these are two bedroomed, but around the same floor space.

I have a 950 sq ft suite at the Platinum for $100 a night, much nearer the strip too

That's a cracking price. But These are closer to 2000sq ft And we need the extra space.
Just had a look at the larger suites there, but they are coming up at $400 a night, then more for the weekend. So very little difference in price.

Although the other option would be to go with 2 smaller suites. We are not going until mid next year, so plenty of time to decide.

.

yes the 2 bed pricing always seems odd but 2 x 1000 does = 2000 :p

I really need to stop telling folks to stay there or the bargains will be no more ;)

But another point on the palms and say the platinum for example. They are both dead central on the strip. Whist you have to walk into the strip, your walking will be far less than if you stopped somewhere like mandalay bay or even the encore, as these are both at the main extremes of the main strip.

Similar for me, have a 920 sq ft suite at the A r i a (for some reason the pron checker on OCUK doesn't like the ****) this year for not much more. For those of you looking for cheap deals, it's worth signing up for the email listings for each hotel, there are some silly bargains to be had if you are going on the right dates.

A r i a opened at the wrong time, Vegas was ( and still is ) in a big slump with the lowest prices for years, A r i a has not had chance to build up regular clientel

add that to awful reviews it received when it first opened, the reviews are now improving but the rates will remain low for some time

the bad reviews were mainly due to customer service and in room tech issues, these often affect a new hotel but seemed worse here, obviously these are only temporary issues which they should sort, the only long term things people don't seem to like are the layout and it being very dark

I will have a look round next month but my impressions are that it looks smart from the inside ( outside is bland )

That's kinda why we've taken the chance with it this year; we figured that they've had enough time to iron out the niggles by now so it will be interesting to see. At the end of the day we only ever use the hotel as a base of operations :D
