Vegas Hotels

we stayed in San Francisco before driving to LV, and stayed a night at mammoth lakes (Yosemite, although out of the park as it's a rip off) and then a night on the edge of death valley (Pahrump winery).

What hotel did you stay in at Mammoth Lakes? Not the Shilo Inn I hope :D

Ok so whats the deal with flying to the Canyon?

Priced it up at $229 for a pickup from the hotel, flight to the South Rim, bus tour around the various viewpoints, flight back again to Vegas, drop off at hotel. Seems VERY cheap for what you get?

That was the price we got with Papillon tours I think. You can get West Rim tours from Vegas for about 60-80 bucks on the street which puts that price in context...

I've done neither but my parents have been to both the west rim, and then a year later to the south rim as they felt they'd missed out. Their view was that they wished they'd done it properly the first time which is why when I went to LV last year we did neither as we didn't have the time - I'd rather wait and do it properly at some point.

How competitive is that price Rotty? Looking at doing a GC tour in my time there during September, knowing to avoid the west rim.. so looking for a good tour at a good price to the south rim. Is it wise to pre-book or get one off the hotel/locals when actually in Vegas?

best to pre book and that price is pretty good afaik

some may be a little cheaper but use low wing aircraft which spoils the view if you get a seat over the wing

Rotty! :D

$198 inc tax for 3 nights at Planet Hollywood in a 'Hip' room inc Resort Fee. Any good? Do they have decent pools etc?

Or

$167 inc resort fee for 3 nights at the Monte Carlo?

of those 2 Planet Hollywood all day

I really like the place and the location is good

look here for pool info

though why you would lay round the pool on a short visit to Vegas is something I don't understand :)

Make sure you visit the Pleasure Pit in Planet Hollywood.... :D

On the pools, we spent a grand total of about 3 hours by the pool in 5 days despite stressing over the hotel having a good pool. There will be just so much stuff you want to do, lazing by a pool will not be an option unless you are there for a fortnight I would say.

Another one for you Rotty. MGM Grand @ $218 inc tax and resort fee for 3 nights.

Choice of West Wing or Tower room? Any good? Also says the Resort Fee includes $15 of beverage credit? So... free drinks?

My head keeps exploding with all the choice

Lol. To be honest, as long as you get a reasonable hotel towards the center of the strip Vegas is what you make of it.

South rim for the win, the west rim sucks in comparison. (and that's my only advice :) )

would still take PH over that deal, MGM is not as good and more money
