Vidars first go at Water Cooling...

It's only CPU temporarily and I really don't want to spend any more just now on a card that will likely be out of my system in a few months. Either way I'll be doing my loop once the parts arrive as I'm itching to get started.

Next round of upgrades for me will then be the GPU and getting it into the loop and swapping out my two drives for a large nvme and possibly swapping the CPU block and then hopefully I'll be done! At least for a good long while...

At least that's what I'm telling myself lol

Will be extra practice for you
Doing cpu first and gpu later lol
The upgrade bugs awful
Only thing I haven't done is my old
Gtx1070
And my monitor
Hopefully the new cards will cause
1080ti prices to drop once new
Cards arrive as cant see me
Needing any higher Than that as
Don't game a lot lately

Next time the bug bites, I'm blocking Space Monkey until it subsides :p

My biggest problem is that being pretty much house bound and unable to do most other things without a lot of difficulty my PC in particular has become even more of a focus for me. I'm fortunate now any upgrades I want to do can be done in stages as opposed to all at once.

According to Linus the used prices of pc hardware could shoot up thanks to the corona virus as new hardware prices shoot up due to poor supply.

I guess it's possible Corona virus
Could cause a knock on effect
To used parts
My stepson bought a new mp510 m2
The other day and it was 179
For what I paid 110 a few months ago
So might already be affecting
New hardware prices
Luckily I got 3 x M2 while they
Were cheap :D:D

Enough chat, where's the pics? :D

I know right.... Going to be tomorrow before I get the delivery

It's a pump res combo so should be fine then I guess, hopefully don't make a pigs ear of it...

Any last tips before I get stuck in?
You will be fine:)
Just take your time
I like to also have a fill port at
The top radiator
Most people just fill up the reservoir
But top filling let's gravity help you out
As well as filling the reservoir
But fill port is optional
Make sure not to let the pump
Run dry when filling the loop
Very bad for it

Quick pic of the post clean of the water block, didn't get a before pic but there wasn't really any gunk or anything, tiniest bit of residue...

Does it matter which way the fins are orientated or which way the plastic goes?

It kind of matters
As the jet plate directs the water flow
It will still work regardless
But may cause a few degrees difference
Most blocks I have used only went
Back together 1 way
Ideally photo stuff as you disassemble
Them always helps
Edit
Jet plate is silver bit with the slit in it

The fins need to be perpendicular to the jet plate/distribution plate in order to distribute across the fin stack. The plastic distribution plate is keyed to fit the jet plate so it can only really go back in one way.

Kitchen roll. Leak test. When leak testing do not have your board or gfx powered up, just the pump with a jumper on the PSU to get it powered.

Take your time and don't rush or skimp on a "oh that'll do" when building the loop. Other than that, enjoy it. It's kinda therapeutic building a fresh loop.

Don't get disheartened by needing a right angle you didn't plan for or a fitting that won't physically work with the gap in your case etc. It's a learning curve that's all.

Enjoy.

Rads arrived at 9am.... the rest of my stuff not coming till 6pm ish! Gutted but at least the little one will be going to bed.
Hate it when that happens
Still you can mount the rads and fans
Do some cable tidying
Mount cpu block
Makes it easier to visualise your loop
Then
Edit flush the rads even though they are new to get any crap from manufacturing process out

Yeah I got a load of purified water from Ocuk to flush with, going to run tap through the rads first then the purified under advice from space monkey. Should have picked up some deionised too but not been out to get any. If I can't get it clean I'll go out tomorrow and get some.

Going to start stripping things down though

I use the water out my condenser dryer
To flush rads out:)
