EB3-E480-C-38-DB-43-B1-82-E4-26-B0-B20-FBE34.jpg

So the new case and lcd kit has arrived for the GBA that i fixed with the power issues, ps1 at back left is just donor parts, ps 1 fat in middle is a 5552 which im planning on doing the xstation mod on now its running after a psu and power switch fix.

Rest are full of faults and not looked yet :

Ps1 in centre has screen garble / glitching. normally a known problem with capacitors hopfully if not will try my hand on chips replace from donor.
PSP is not reading UMD at all, and has small analogue travel. Also needs a damn good clean!
SNES has no power
Megadrive has power but black screen
Master system has no power and feels like power switch is glued still and rattling like crazy inside!
ps2 not reading games and fans going like crazy then overheats

will do pics of everything i do on each one as i work through bit by bit :)

Nice looking good - With my psp's I decided to sell my original one and keep the new one... Took my one to CEX today and bagged £37 for it. Bearing in mind that I got the PSP, 3 games, and the ps2 + 10 games etc for £44 that means that the ps2 only owes me £7 before we are in the profit! My PS2 seems to work perfectly, the only issue being that it's slow to initially read a disk. After its reads the disk its perfectly fine but that initial read takes around 2 to 3 mins. I'm told this is an easy fix so ill strip it down a bit later for some more testing and fixing.

You Master system 2 is also a lot better cosmetically than mine :( and i'm still waiting on parts :(

I'm not sure what mine is doing and until I have some RCA plugs its going to sit there and look messy :D To be honest though given its drawing from my bench supply I am going to have a guess and say it's doing something. :) Looking forward to some updates on that. Not doing great with the buying broken stuff though a lot of what I seem to be buying isn't really that "broken" if at all.

Had a lot of that to before Xmas . Very very annoying as I really want to fix things and not polish them!

And that is the symptom of what's wrong with modern consumerism and manufacturing! No one even wants to have a look, let alone actually fix stuff.

It's not that people don't know how to fix things, most people don't even realise you can. It doesn't occur to them. You hardly even hear "It was playing up so I had a look at it".

Exactly - That's why in here we are bucking the trend! It amazes me that people will destroy say a switch and then literally buy a replacement the same day and just throw the old one away. The dude that I offered a trade in to for example was absolutely amazed that I offered him £50 for his broken switch as part of a trade in for a refurbished switch and said to me, "I just assumed a water damaged one couldn't be fixed". To which I responded, "give me half hour and if you would like your daughters save games etc we can transfer them to your new switch or alternatively I can do you a repair on your daughters one". He looked at the messy pink one he was giving me, looked at the refurb and just said "you know what, this one is nicer, I will just take this and my daughter is lucky she is even getting that", he then gave me £70 which was the additional cash to trade plus an extra fiver and wondered off. 20 mins later I sent him a pic of his daughters switch working and offered to back it up if he wanted it.

I do have another switch lite coming this week so may just record the repair from beginning to end on my scope/stream setup and do some explaining on switch lite diagnostic and how you go about troubleshooting them if anybody is interested in that?

Oh and I forgot to mention, while in CEX I saw this for £4 so had to grab it...

So many good psp games and it's so cheap to build a library and collect for!!!

Can't let you be the only one rocking 16 bit classic action!!

Because "Sega do what Nintendon't" looking back this was really the start of that sort of direct marketing against the competition

Awesome thread @Vince I've really enjoyed the read and pics so far. Very nice work :)
Brings back memories of doing my c&g electronics

Subbed.

Cheers dude - I have quite a bit to get through so will be adding more - starting with some of these mods and also a proper switch lite video when this next lite gets here :)

I have just spent 10 mins doing a fairly significant update on the spreadsheet - Where I have bought joblot consoles I have made it simple by taking total paid and dividing it by number of consoles. Left out things like pads etc for now to try and keep it somewhat organised but ill do a little "ad-hoc" sales for the other crap I feel isn't worthy for the spreadsheet but claws back a little cash.

Ooohhh rca mod? Defo needed , wanna see the outcome so I can do mine!

Direct to the Sega chip....

Alex kid baby!!! Just need to wire in all the audio and we are rocking!!

And to be sure... stick a cart in!!

So what we then need to do now is wire up all the audio.

Out with the old rf and in with something just a little more modern!!

All you need for this is some wire, some rca jacks, a 75ohm resistor and a 220uf 16v cap.

Seriously in a world where more modern standards exist there is no room for RF.

Rca mod complete...

Well I guess I shall just clean it up and see if anybody wants it. I should probably also clean up the join and add some shrink around the resistor.
