Vince's Ebay Repair Thread - (Console Repairs & Mods)

Thanks mate I’ll let mate know

One 3070 up and rocking in my wife's machine. We way overdid the amps on the cap, the cap is a lot larger and literally only just fits under the sink and onto the pad. I just couldn't find the exact right spec cap anywhere so we go with something that works!!

I've repasted the card etc so plug it in and go!!

Just going to get a bit of fur mark running on it and put it through 20 mins stress test then I'll package it up and get a label printed up. Tell your friend to be careful if he takes it apart the cap is on there super solid but as I say clearance is zilch. I'll do a photo when it comes out of the case, just installing some drivers etc and giving it that test.

Well it's warming up the room nicely.. maxes out 80c it's good to go.

Nice pickups, especially that CIB Nes lurking in the background! I still have my DC. Yellowed and completely stock. I saw R6 was doing colours shells now but the price was quite steep. He runs some discounts every now and again.

Hows that Iron @Vince now you had it for a bit? Recommend it?

Why not give the dreamcast a retrobrite? I got lucky, this one doesn't have any yellowing at all...

Gents I need help.. what is this thing in the 2600 box?

Cor blimey, that brings back memories. Joystick cable annoyingly trailing over the keyboard, get a little over zealous with movement and accidentally dislodge the interface from the back of the Speccy...? Checkerboard pattern on the screen then have to wait another 10-15 minutes to play Spellbound again!

Good times. :D

As I'm here, question for you @Vince... Our eldest's Switch keeps freezing on wake from sleep, reboot and it works fine. Although I've not managed to reproduce it my son swears it keeps happening, worth doing a full reset on it or reckon it's something more sinister lurking?

Same switch that I've looked at a few times? Or a different one? - I've actually seen this issue before, but I can't remember off hand how I fixed it or what the issue was, my recommendation is to wait until it's a repeatable issue, if its power management/battery related it will get worse and when it does swing it my way :)

Keeping the interesting stuff going... called it a night... half way through our lynx build..

All that's left to do is clean up and button it up. I'll take some pics as I go.. screen looks nice though! Not your normal bennvenn mod like my one earlier in the thread, have to say I'm impressed with it so far.

Finally, GPU packed and ready to come home, I'd have liked to have found the smaller caps for it of the same value but can't seem to find them anywhere. I'd be happier with a bit more clearance but unless @Webzta buddy want to wait until I can find them (I dont know how long that kight take some items i seem to have for seemingly forever) in that specific size then this is perfectly fine, even if the cap is connecting with the cooler.

Different one this time, it's one of the newer revisions and not the HAC-001.

Nice one, cheers dude. :D

CIB so gotta keep it stock I think. We shall see. Waiting on just the one more lot before I go home and play with my toys!!
You’ll start dreaming of a fan mod a few hours into playing on it ;)

I’m keeping an eye on after market pads for it, I get serious hand cramp after long sessions on the dc pad sadly

Thats interesting, I looked at the pad and it looks brand new but as yet I havent actually played on it at all!

In other news the thread is approaching 100k view milestone :D - Thanks for joining me on my journey gents so far its been great fun :)

Would have been a monster to keep up with! Interesting though

It got tricky because loads of things I buy in bulk, then we have the stuff that sits in the queue for ages. Plus dedicating time to it was time I couldn't dedicate to the actual fun stuff. I think the reality is I'm more time constrained than it may appear so only have a fixed amount of hours where I can do this stuff. If I am updating here, my discord server etc etc. It's all time taken away from the fixing of things.

Ahh yay it's not the yo yo switch  was going to say you will start thinking I'm planting things in it to go wrong :D

First thoughts on not coming out of standby are all the normal culprits but particularly m92 as that's the main pmic and controls most of the core power management. I'd guess its that side rather than the bmc side.

Plugged the lynx in today after leaving it working absolutely fine last night and it's totally dead. Have a look at vIN and its 1.2v so it's fet died literally overnight. I threw a new fet on it, new Zener, new transistors and plugged it in l. 9v at vIN so way too much, input voltage is 9v, vIN at the end of the power circuit should be 5v.

Argh, bloody power circuit on these things sucks, anyway tested after the zener and yea wrong voltage so a brand new zener is bad. I've got a load which is handy so threw another on and we are hot to trot. 4.9v at vIN. Tested the mod out and we are back to where we left it last night.

Later tonight I think we will try and finish it. I don't have a mounting bracket designed for the mk1 lynx and this screen so I guess we going old school on it.

couldnt resist looking up talon knife
are these people ###### insane?
thousands of £ for an in a game knife????????
It was a lot more crazy a few years back there was auction sites for the ingame knifes and unscrupulous Twitch streamers were making a fortune in the background promoting these sites that half the time they had a vested interest in, I’m talking millions of dollars.
