Vince's Ebay Repair Thread - (Console Repairs & Mods)

Yea ive been running the same £35 rework station for about 5 years :D Does brilliant tbh. It's an 858D
Thanks again - I’ll just go ahead and grab one of those in that case. Just need to find a suitable one now. They all seem to go under the 858d moniker, and some of them look very shoddily built…not sure I’d want a dodgy one in my house!

This thread made me realise that I've not seen @Kreeeee post for ages, last posted June 2022, always makes you think, especially as he was also a biker so mind can't help but go to dark places. Does anyone know if he's alive and well?

Not sure, haven't seen him in MOH area in a while either. I'll find out!!

Bit of an image dump of some things I've been working on...

This game was useless to me so I rom swapped it, and honestly this new game is a great little game!!

Another GBC build.. this time its a squirtle!!

And I decided to fix some more of these bad boys... love these little things!!

Done quite a bit today and quite a bit also turned up!!

First up I finished up a retrobrite and restore on a snes:

I then had 4 switches sent in for repair all of which are now fixed!

And all these goodies turned up:

So I fixed and reshelled/reprogrammed a set of joycons!

Switches are all packed up ready to be sent to respective homes in the morning. I did take a load of pics but nothing really interesting, just ports, filters around pi3 on one, just boring easy repairs.

Good work on the SNES! Was that all done by wiping a product on it and then using UV?

Oh, bit the bullet and bought a Yihua 959d hot air rework station. Haven’t unboxed it yet, but will let you know how it goes when I do.

Yea it was super yellow so i just coated it in 40% peroxide gel with a paint brush and put it under a 15w UV flood light. I re-apply a bit every 4 hours or so, so it doesn't dry out and after about 12 hours the yellow is generally gone :)

Sounds simple enough. Must give that a go on some of my laser printer panels. Checked earlier and was somewhat amazed when I realised I bought it at the start of 2008 - quite the purchase, almost 16yrs of service for about £140 :D

I fixed a few more joycons last night, slowly getting through my box of joycon spares and building as many as I can. Waiting for some parts for the right joycons and some more right ones I've ordered to come in but right now I have an abundance of left ones all fixed up.

I thought you couldn't get the stuff for retrobright in the uk anymore? I looked into it as my snes is yellow and just saw people complaining you can't get the hydrogen peroxide in a high enough concentration for it to work properly :(. I never looked into it any further after that.

I have an OG Xbone and an Xbox one S you can keep if you wanna do some sort of trade deal. I don't know if I'm breaking the rules right now,be gentle with me mods.

Hey Vince have you ever changed/upgraded the switches on a logitech mouse? Wanting to do it to mine as I'm getting the double click issue but I don't have the knowledge, skills or tools.
