Vince's Repair Thread - (Console Repairs & Mods)

I dont think I have ever even played on mine besides from some quick testing - I really should spend more time with the systems... With the hinge, normally they go floppy because the plastic cracks, if i remember rightly there is a little "thing" that goes the other side of that metal ring that has a hard clip thing... yea I know terrible explanation but its that that gives the stiffness and the click into place that the hinge does...

I had a good look around last night and your difficulty might be finding replacement shell parts.. I couldn't really find anything for the OG 2ds system.

No worries mate. I scoured AliExpress in the end, have ordered a new screen and plexi. Have managed to find a black top hinge surround which will do, I'll see if I can glue the blue one but if not I have a fall back plan.

Hopefully it's just failing to initialise because of the screen. Would save busting out the hot air.

Couple of pick ups from the retro shop this weekend... been wanting to play nights so that was a great little pickup for 20 and the dreamcast pad was only £10... bargain.

At 5pm tonight I'm going to look at another retail space. Will share some pics... last one fell through but I've got 3 viewings lined up over the next week or so.

Wasn't to be... I can put some pics up a bit later but man estate agents suck... so evasive on questions and this lease in particular was sketchy as they come... been empty for nearly 10 years. Now I know why.

Good luck! Hopefully tonight’s worked out better for you

Don't want to hijack but I couldn't find a thread for handhelds.

Has anyone had any luck with a R36S? It's a little handheld that looks alright for the price. Tempted to get one as I stay away a lot for work.

This should help you out

Hey @Vince how do?

Would I be able to call on your services to replace a faulty NAND in a Gen8 microserver? BGA153 job.

My brother's is dying, and apparently they're quite easy to source and replace.

Cheers!

Ohhh I have a special new template for this bga - I havent used it yet tbh but it looks good! - Been a bit busy with the old work for updates over the past few weeks (projects man.... too much) and with the current heat I just cant stand the heat in the office so we are waiting for the world to cool down a bit!

Talking of projects :p ive got a panasonic digital camera with a faulty display if you want something different to play with :D

I havent told you guys so much... I have a new supplier for "stuff" some of the stuff I have here at the moment is just super cool and tbh I paid rock bottom prices! Still got lots to be getting on with but havent picked up an iron in about 2 weeks due to being overworked at my day job, and this week its a bit to warm for more hot stuff in my office... sucks to be me

Many thanks!

I have a faulty RG35XX and what was a faulty RG351p here atm... some of the Anbernic stuff is actually not shockingly bad and this looks similar!! Every one of these kinds of consoles I have done ive ended up on a custom firmware as stock is just not nice... ArkOS and also RetroOZ for another one i did recently are great little OS's if your device supports them.

2080ti artifaacts on load
zotac rtx 2080ti gaming fixable bud?

Wont lie i'm shying away from GPU's as im seemingly crap at GPU's - I have of course had a few successes in the gpu space but not enough :( - If its ram... possibly fixable if its the IMC probably not... Don't know whats common on the 2080ti.. In the right hands it might be fixable im just not sure these are the right hands. I do need to get some GPU's on the bench as im frankily embarrassed how behind i am with stuff!

understandably looking at the thread you are busy, i will try a bake then , it was a first the xbox and ps3 worked lol

oh please dont if its a flip chip /imc issue it wont fix it... if its a ram issue again it wont fix it... take the cooler off and look at the underfil around the gpu chip, compare its colour as you go around the outside... generally speaking if the IMC has failed the underfill will be discoloured in one corner of the gpu die. 1080/2080 I believe the IMC is located in the top right corner of the GPU die... so expect the underfill in that corner to be a different colour (darker brown rather than a grey) in that corner. If you have that its dead, dead.

Thought I'd quickly show you some stuff that came and that I've slowly been looking at. I know I've got some ocuk stuff which is still here so I'll reach out to everybody this week with updates... but yea what we thinking of this lot;

Got loads of psp's and vitas at the moment I just love giving them re-shells and making them like new... mindless and relaxing just popping screws out and fitting stuff up... love it.

Currently have 4 Vitas here and am thinking I'll also refresh one and make it blue... even got a 3g 1000 oled one and I've not seen one of thos in the wild before.
