Vince's Repair Thread - (Console Repairs & Mods)

Ive done it several times... set your iron at about 320 for this witchcraft! dont go higher than that... heat it up a bit then remove iron and hold it down with some tweezers until it cools, for the speaker put your meter across is, the GB speaker should be 8 ohms.
lovely job, time to invest in a soldering iron and see if I can do this I think ....GULP

Shorted the headphone socket today to see if was switch in headphone socket there with the audio fault and isn't so guessing it's the driver itself. Was filthy and not in great nick. Hopefully new one and fresh solder will do the trick.

Yea its getting a proper AV mod, unlike mine which has sort of a ghetto AV mod where I just tap directly into the video and audio signals and put some phono plugs on the back :)
I had considered the ghetto route, didn't know there was a "proper" route to do it now......granted haven't looked in a while

Yea ill do some vids on some stuff over the next week, probably do one on that :) - My personal one give a brilliant signal though and looks great on a modern TV through my scaler :)

@Tinders - your surface is up this weekend! Had my mum over for the week from Gibraltar and now she has gone home I can crack on :) - Not going to lie my house being like a mad house for a week kinda got fairly annoying quickly and of course you end up not doing and getting the stuff you normally would done. Time to get back in the game :D

I feel your pain, Ive currently got my sis n her 3 lovely children here for the last 2 weeks, life is so peaceful, especially as I’ve got 3 of my own

Looks like a nice screen this new one. Old one was water damage that also got onto the driver board but the driver board is fine and dandy :) Just gotta glue it up and clamp it for 12 hours or so and it will be good to come home :)

The thing with these is once sealed back up you aren't going back to fix any issues, you get one go at it basically and they are prone to issues with touch in certain parts of the screen which can happen during install so getting the driver board etc in the spot on place is a must. There are also several cables that go from the machine to the screen which are easy to catch on removal. Bloody horrible things to repair.

Just about managed to not fluff the install :)

Made a Game Gear last night for an Overclocker!

Making up some GG battery packs :) went with 2x 104050's 2500mah with an 2S board to run them in series.

Random Factory bodge!

Full mods including Lipo and usb-c charge mods! New Shell etc... was a fun one! Battery mods should give somewhere in the region of 8 to 10 hours gameplay time between charges or there abouts.
