Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Nonsense.

Thats pretty much what I said, they've told him that due to the number of devices he has on the wifi he needs to upgrade to the 500 package because the 350 is limited to 15 devices.
They have said that it'll be cheaper per month though, only by £8 but a lie is still a lie..

He gets a new Superhub with the 500 packages, are the new ones Wifi6? Because if they're not, he's not gaining anything other than having his main connection increased and his monthly cost reduced a bit..

Virgin stream bundle

Yeah I have one of these coming too with my new contract. It was sold (when i say sold given away free) to me as bit like a "4k firestick" but upon research it appears very much locked down to VM. Not android based so unable to side load apps. For me, perhaps useful for live tv/youtube. Will give it a go :) Could not see if able to use existing subs for streaming services or whether access all needs purchasing via VM

Best offers I got during the upgrade dance:

Inbound retentions: M100 broadband boosted to 200Mbps with a 10GB O2 SIM - £27/month.

Outbound retentions: M200 broadband - £24.25/month.

Thought these were both pretty good TBF. Went with the latter as my mobile contract isn't due for renewal for a couple of months, and O2 are pretty cheap for SIM-only these days anyway. With the current best deal, it would work out as £32/month total for a 40GB SIM and 350Mbps broadband.

There's an inbound & outbound?

So fed up of VM. Waiting almost a year for them to do the road works. They did part of it Jan and then just now completed it. And guess what.. they don't even believe me that it's been done. Saying the contractors haven't confirmed it so can't get the engineer to come and install it. Lol

The Hub 5 is WiFi 6 but he wont necessarily get one.

He's got the 3.0 at the mo, if he does get a 5 then at least he'll be getting wifi 6 which might solve some of his problems, his monthly payment will be less either way so even though they lied about the device cap he's still better off.

Might get the 4, which is better than the 3 and isn't actually too bad(for me). I use it without issue with 1gig connection and have a load of connected devices.

Guess we'll have to wait until it arrives then, I have suggested that he turn off the hubs wifi and go down the mesh route as there are some dead spots in the house anyway...

Bit of a long shot, but I don't suppose there Is a Virgin Media rep in here?

I have issues and customer services don't seem to speak my language.
There was but he was only really helpful for sometimes getting discounts on new connections. For issues you're better off doing as suggested and using the forums or their online chat.

Inbound retentions - the people you speak to when you call up to cancel.
Outbound retentions - the people who call you after you've requested cancellation.

In most of these businesses, the latter department has more discounting power than the former.
There is also an Indian call centre version of Inbound retentions. Can be pot luck who you get & call waiting time can be horrific. Put my 30day notice in recently with inbound retentions = 45min on hold.

God knows, my other half has this issue all the time when calling.

all out sauced to another country

This company has given me grief and stress for 5 weeks. I need to get rid of them asap.

It's annoying that they have the monopoly of fibre, and everyone else is playing catchup :(
