They seem to have kept to their word and have fixed the connection...
Its still pants compared to most VM users living in...anywhere but east London, but its better than it was

At least i can play games again, never gonna have a mythical low latency but no packetlosss is all i care about ;( 30 ping with 35 jitter ... lloooool ffs

1 week after installing my Virgin media package, I have lost a load of TV channels :( - fair enough I wasn't meant to have them as part of the package, but still a bit gutted :p

Tempted to downgrade my net to 10meg and upgrade my TV package to the 100 channels. Hmm...

Had our 50mbit for nearly a year now, first few months was awful, many drop outs. Eventually sorted (result of Wireless on superhub, high downstream volts and poor wiring coming into my flat).

All sorted, levels sit at 0.1 /41db, and the connection is now rock solid, rarely drop outs.

Was really annoyed as I came from UKOnline ADSL2+ with a Draytek 2820n which dropped out once in a year and was crazely robust.

Now waiting for our UBR (ACTO) to be 100mbit enabled, annoyed it isnt even planned yet, guess given it's in West London they need a lot of equipment to cope with demand.

Anyone got experience in the Cradley Heath / Old Hill area near Birmingham? I am not certain what UBR this comes under.

I am having a Virgin package installed on the 9th September (50mb bb) and would appreciate any feedback :)

P.S. This is my only choice, FTTC not even scheduled in this area and I don't fancy 4mb ADSL.

B64 is quite good I think mate. You shouldn't really have any problems there I don't think

Hey guys, as promised here is my update with regards to my initial experience with Virgin media 50Mb (install date was 2nd Sep). History is that I have had a previously unstable bethere line and thought I would give Virgin a try. My be line is now back to normal so I am seriously thinking abut cancelling my Virgin subscription. The problem is not the bandwidth but the amount of jitter (I game quite a bit).

Looking at the individual ping times at 6am in the morning it's relatively jitter free. At 8pm (with no use on the line at all) it's all over the place.

and then mine rofl....

Game keep adsl - Dload tons of pr0n? get VM i think its that simple now.

I've just been granted access to the world of 100mbit.

Seem to have pretty good pings here too :D

13-14ms to www.bbc.co.uk

Looks like I'm finally out of an over-subscribed area :D

Already having wireless issues with the blasted superhub though :( The engineer who came round had never heard of superhub issues and wouldn't entertain the idea of me using my existing docsis 3 modem (from 50mbit)

Thought it was £6-7 a month more?

They did me a deal as I've been with em for over 7 years.

There is a firmware update due out in the coming weeks to fix the crappy wireless on the super hubs. I only use wired anyway so it doesn't bother me much.

Ah good... look forward to it!

I use wires for server/htpc/desktops & work laptop when working at desk... but wireless on laptops when I CBA to sit at desk... :p

Any forums worth keeping an eye on besides VM's own?

I'm just a lil frustrated that when I ordered the move/upgrade I was told to just have a word with the engineer and he'd activate my old modem ok. This clearly wasn't the case :( Maybe it depends on the eng?

Ah well... I don't mind Netgear kit (when it works) and like the addition of the gigabit switch (old d-link was only 100), so the superhub isn't toooo bad... just want the darn wireless fixed...

Not at all mate. It all depends on how the work order is set up.

If you have a 50Mb connection then they can activate 100Mb over the phone. If they send an engineer then it will most definitely result in a modem/hub swap.

The engineer has to do what is on the workorder otherwise it wont allow the workorder to be closed down and in most cases would result in the upgrade not going through.

If the workorder is not closed it will also result in the engineer getting a failed/non compliant install against his name and he will get penalised for it.

If an engineer even tried to do anything like that then he is an idiot frankly.
