Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Never got as far as actually cancelling and needing a call back. Usually get a decent discount first time around, that usually beats sky. Theres also a certain amount of I cant be doing with the hassel.

Re: Returning the hub, so nobody has yet to arrange the doorstep collection, no surprise, even though twice on live chat they said within 10 days. I now get an email saying my VM package is on its way which I assume is the returns packaging...

I've just renewed for 18 months @ £77p/m, have been paying £75 p/m so I'll take a minor £2 increase to save me the hassle of messing around.

- 1gb Fibre
- Sky Sporrts
- Mega Volt TV
- TNT Sports
- Netflix

Anyone with a Hub 5x got tips on how to get hold of the WiFi Pods without much hassle?

Three storey townhouse build that drops off a bit on the top floor with the Virgin WiFi, but not quite enough to trigger getting the pods from what I’m told.

Ideally I’d upgrade the Eero Pro I’ve got, but don’t fancy buying 4 of them at once!

You have to do a speed test using the app and make sure it’s below a certain speed.

So called up today, trying to get some discount off my parents package - currently £100 a month for a 12 year old TIVO box and 120M cable modem...

Spent about 40 mins on the phone, and managed to get a broadband package to 500Mbit and a new box, for a reduced rate of £80 a month, I'm like - gtfo

So told them to cancel - I imagine they'll call back and offer something, failing that - we'll try and go with someone else, because the cost is insane for the service we get..

So, they called back yesterday and offered 500Mb, a 360 set top box, the landline with anytime calls and whatever, for £48 a month, so I've told my mum to go with that, as the last time they called it we got them down from £80 to £74 and walked away, so for them to call back and go down to £48 is fair.

I've posted in another VM thread about my issues with my contract, basically was paying £91 a month for 1Gig, talk weekend & maxit TV and could only get it down to £83 over the phone so I logged a complaint with VM. It went un-answered for 3 weeks until I got a phone call one day to go over my complaint.

I said that we don't use the landline anymore and can get all the same channels through my LG smart TV so I just needed the broadband and I felt that I got forced into taking out an o2 sim at the start of the contract and the reception and data allowance are no good for me and I cannot cancel it with o2 as they could send a disconnection notice through to VM who can reduce my BB speed back down to 500Mb.

After some haggling they have agreed to reduce it back down to £76 a month until next April when the contract is due for renewal and they said that I could at that time reduce my services as I would be out of contract and take a BB only package. Whenever I have tried to do this in the past though they have always come back with a better offer if I was to keep the landline and TV.

I feel like the whole setup is rigged against you if you don't have another provider in your area who can offer a similar service.

Anyone seen any stats about Virgin Media to see if they are losing any significant customers recently? It feels like everyone locally has left VM for a alt fibre provider.

I know I'll be off as soon as if/when a suitable alternative provider becomes available.

Sick of the end of contract price dance.

If you have options of another fibre provider and don't care about TV there is pretty much no reason to be with VM

So who is better and cheaper than virgin for broadband only? My contract expires at end of this month - they keep emailing me weekly saying to renew at my current price £26 for M200 + obligatory phone line which hasn't been used in 8 years.

I don't watch tv.

I get peed off with the frequent disconnects and downtime.

Although I'm paying for M200 I just ran speedtest and I'm getting 272mbs down and 26mbs up

This is going to very much depend on what other providers you have available really. What have VM said about the disconnection/downtime issue?

Post on the VM forums first, you might be able to get £5 per day that it was delayed and end up with a second connection that hasn't cost you anything. £5 per day for 13 months is a nice sum.
I got a nice surprise in the post today. I had complained to customer services over text message but didn’t follow it up. I was going to send a more formal letter calculating what I thought I was owed but hadn’t yet got round to it. Then today I got an unsolicited cheque for £2k with absolutely no explanation. Literally just the cheque in an envelope. Pretty chuffed with that!!!
