Virgin Media Discussion Thread

What how are people getting the upgrade early, what are you saying? Just asking for it early?

Its BS that they make you feel special by giving you it early.

Go to VM site and make sure you are not signed in.

Enter your postcode (I live in a flat, so picked next doors).

Says I am good to get 152Mb/s right now.

So why should new customers get it if I need to wait till Aug 2014-Jan 2015? ;)

Those sneaky buggers!

A call shall be made soon. I want that 152Mb now and not between July and August.

Let me know how you get on, I have 152 available apparently, and i want to moan about about a dodgy superhub, so hopefully i'll have that on my side.

Saw this on MSE forum, from 2008 though,

Taken fron the Virgin Media Website:-
Call 150 from your Virgin Media Phone. It's absolutely free.
Or call 0845 454 1111 from any other phone line.

VM line its 150 then listen to options to get to one where you are thinking of leaving.

I think its 2 menu choices in.

Normal option will get you a normal call centre and chances are it will be in India.

You need retentions to deal with this and they are more clued up and have the power to adjust your account.

Ah I don't have a VM phone line so the 1111 number (or 0333 000 3101, thank you say no to 0870!) will do.

Will call on the ferry home in 5 minutes :D

Well that was easy.

Hello 152Mb!

I'm not even half way home yet so can't test lol.

An Indian sounding man did pick up and wasn't retentions but he said he has the power to do it anyway and did so within 30 seconds.

Just rang them up, spoke to an indian guy, but he had the power (to know, you're indestructible) to change my account details. Bumped me up to 152Mb, said that although he did change it, i could still only start working at 152Mb in july like stated on the website.

Still, just done a speed test. Was getting 115-120/11 now after 5 minutes its bumped over that threshold to 130 already, looks like its working. :D

Would never have thought of phoning if it wasn't for this thread. Thanks.

I've got a number of users connected at the moment so can't do a full speed test but early checks confirm it's working as should be. Indeed thanks for the heads up. I always forget the year round about the early speed bump phone call shenanigans :D
