Virgin Media Discussion Thread

I'd be happy with 500mb 50mb upload ha, when is 3.1 DOCSIS rolling out industry wise? Also does this RFoG bring anything new to coax cable technology?

VM are upping my 20Mb to 50Mb for free in the next few months. Will my Ambit 256 cope? I don't trust the livechat guy "Johnathon", he kept bringing up wifi.

got one of the manages to call us and he has done it for free

stupid high-utilization, most of today it's been like 12 - 40Mb, will have to wait till the network clears in my area so i can see the full speed, hopefully people will sleep soon. it's starting to speed up :)

Nope, you will need a Superhub 1 or 2 to get 50 Mb. VM should supply you with one nearer to your upgrade time.

Can someone explain to a noob. I have 20Mb. I waited until midnight to start download the Diablo patch and got capped within 20 mins. What.

20Mb and below are still on the old traffic management http://my.virginmedia.com/traffic-management/traffic-management-policy-thresholds.html. It's at the bottom. I'm fairly sure that if you rang retentions, they would up you to 30Mb for free and supply you with a Superhub if you need one.

I've been with Sky for the last year, after switching from VM due to horrific congestion on YouTube, iPlayer and others - it was impossible to stream, even at low resolutions - despite getting a solid 100 MB on Speedtest.net etc.

Is this fixed these days? I get 63 MB on FTTC, so now VM are 2.5x faster 'in theory'.

YT streaming is still an issue for many VM customers. Go back a couple of pages.

Ah thought so. Knew "Johnathon" had no idea what he was on about. What's the wifi like for the Superhubs? I use a Linksys E1200 atm and the wifi doesn't quite reach my bedroom. It's fine at the door but doesn't reach my bed lol.
