Virgin Media Discussion Thread

They do not want them returned directly now, you got a mail a while back telling you to take them to local recycling plant and they have an agreement with them to keep them aside.

Also posted in the announcements section of WM forum.

I still have mines in a drawer and will someday bin it I guess.

Are u saying that virgin media don't want superhub 1 return now? They did ask me to return superhub 1 last year which I did after they sent me new one superhub 2

You say last year that could be a few months ago or 15 months ago.

Read the mails they send out or their forum. :)

What's the best way to haggle a discount on the collection packages then? We managed a discount 2 years ago as new connection but think it seems harder now they have these packages!

I assume I should be pushing for a SH2 even if I only use modem mode?

I personally don't mind it as Virgin are the only high speed providers in my area. However, I'll probably call CS and complain because I was told that I wouldn't be enrolled in a new contract with them. Hopefully get some discount for the trouble even if it means staying with them.

EDIT: Aren't you the same person (telfordcable) on Cableforums who cancelled all their services and then rejoined? If so, then obviously you'll get a new contract with VM.

I just been on the phone ask Virgin Media if I could get a discount £5 off for 18 month the same with £9 discount loyalty for 18 months if I willing to agree to 18 months contract with the same price at £23.50 for 18 months. They spoken to a manager about this and the manager had accepted. A letter will be sent in the post in the next couple of days. Getting a nice £14 total discount off for 18 months.

Nice one Virgin Media :)

Praying this guy gives me a SH2 on Saturday.

Oh hang on abit.....

BT had told me that I can get 300Mbps BT Infinity now:

http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/broadband/faster-internet

for me ........ 56Mb-74Mb* Estimated down

Guess i'm not switching any time soon

I'm not going to nag them for an early upgrade to the 152meg speeds for a couple of reasons

1. i don't want to get tied into a new contract earlier than i have to
2. The speed is immaterial, it's smoke and mirrors, and useless - use the BBC iPlayer configuration speed check, and you will see that yes, you might get 120 or 150 meg download speeds, but when it comes to streaming, your lucky if you get a 10th of that because they are crippling by usage type, i checked mine yesterday against someone on the new superfast 152, and my average for streaming was the same or slightly higher.
Also, name me one service that they dont cripple because of it's type where you can pull such speeds on a regular consistent basis - i know i can on my usenet account, but only when they dont cut the speeds in half at least.,
3. I still have a stand alone modem, running at 120meg speeds..........

.... so why would i want a super hub !

Steam or Origin.

if all you do is streaming then yes 152Mb even 120Mb isn't worth it
