Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Ugh, so I've just called up and tried to do something about out £72pm bill and the best they can do me is 18 months at £50.99 for 200mb BB, bottom TV package and phone.

We don't use the phone, so I'm loathed to pay for a BB only plan that lumps in £17.99 for a phone line too and losing TV for not much less.

so my new order will go ahead.

Retentions called for the final time and could only offer 38.99 a month for 100mb/tv/phone, with a £50 account credit. (went up to 60quid max after speaking with her manager)

With my £100 credit and £70 quidco, she couldn't match the difference for the yearly cost, I was still about £40 better off.

at the moment the SH2/AC offers less bugs and less missing features than the SH3...

but I'm not going in to detail.

Maybe the case, but connection feels much better despite this. I think it maybe down to the extra downstream channels. I think if you're a trialist you're now okay to share your experience as the trial can be considered officially over.

Been on the phone for over an hour with them, they said my problem is an over utilization in my area and it should be fixed by June...

I enquired about the SH3, they said it's only sent to certain areas and still in the test phase.

They said that to me initially and fobbed me off, i said a new install in my area had recieved it (which they did) then all of a sudden they shipped a new one out.

Will rang back up tomorrow and say that, though I did get two months free off them after an hour on the phone with their customer service.

Did you know that so called loyalty bonuses expire ? last year I noticed that newcomers were getting a better deal than me after the initial lower price period.

I contacted Virgin & they said not possible, I'm reading Virgin website wrong etc. We went to Virgins shop in the city centre & they told me the same thing so I insisted they load the webpage & compare my costs. with the advertised price.

Then they agreed I had a bad deal & was paying several pounds more so suggested I phone up Virgin to which I replied I already tried to no avail. She then got on the phone & came back & said that as a loyalty bonus I was going to get a special deal which knocked £8 of our bill but which gave us a saving of just £3 over a newcomer so in effect we had been overcharged £5 a month

I now discover in a Virgin letter that my loyalty discount of £8 will expire in August
So then I will have to haggle again or I'll get £8 added & again charged more than newcomers when in fact the loyalty bonus is only £3 in real terms.

Its always expired, I have a reminder set so I remember to phone them about it!

from what we've been told in the VM trial forum is at the moment they only giving them out to new customers in certain areas and the firmware is still being testing... once the firmware is more sorted then they will be opening it up to all customer.

Wife phoned them, said were leaving as £95 a month was out of order, new customers pay less. Next bill is £59 :) and nothing gone from package. !!!

We're on Sky atm with a 20Mb line in to the house and me and my stepdad were discussing Virgin and a possible upgrade, as a 2.7Mb download speed on Steam is a tad.. slow in this day and age.

I'll have to find out what were currently paying as we have phone, tv and broadband in one.

UNless.. we can keep the tv and phone and JUST switch to broadband ? Or does that not work?

I looked at the big easy bundle in my area which was 50Mbps, 60+ channels and phone.

£15 a month for 12 months
£17.99 for phone (seems a bit high but OK, I dont pay for it.. yet!)
and a small install fee.

Ideally I'd like just broadband at 100Mbps line into the house and keeping the existing TV channels and phone package.

Edit: Just a thought. If we switched to Virgin broadband, and kept sky tv and phone then there'd two lots of charges right..? Might be better to switch ALL over? I am so confused.
