Right I have had a look and this is what I see under Operation Configuration:

your on the normal 200Mb connection, theres nothing wrong with your end

they did the same thing to me and gave the same BS. it turned out they didn't put me on the gamer package and that why the gamer file wouldn't get accepted.

So what do I do then? Call them back and tell them they didn't send the config file? Cancel the engineer coming out this weekend?

i would call again and be forceful and make sure they've upgraded your package to 200 gamer, and tell them to send the gamer config file again.

if need be ask to talk to a manager

hold off Canceling the engineer for the moment
 
u got it now?

edit: if u haven't got it yet then i just thought it could be because you have a sh2. i read somewhere that the gamer package is only for the hub3

No, I meant I was on the phone to them now. Lol.

If it is the SH2, then why was I told today that it would be fine for the gamer package? Just waiting to be put through to technical support now.

If it still doesn't get sorted. I will wait for the engineer on Saturday.

All done! Cancelled engineer visit. Getting a new SH3 delivered on Saturday. You were right, SH3 is needed in order to get the Gamer 200. Plus they didn't charge me for the replacement of the hub. So that's £14.99 waivered! :D

I will get the new SH3 installed on Saturday and then give them a call to activate it. Price has gone p to £50.25 a month. But that was the price quoted for Gamer. So for now, still on 200Mb down and 12Mb up. But come Saturday, that should change to 20Mb upload! :)

can i just ask with regard to the gamer package. i've read that they've removed the traffic management. is this 100% correct.

The Virgin tech told me it's now on a new network. What was he referring too?

yes theres no download/upload traffic management

it's not on a new network/segment, another lie from VM

can i ask. do you think i'd be better being connected to the SH3 or keep my current setup by using it as modem mode and using my Netgear WNDR3800 as the router?

well the hub3 still as issues/bugs as a router. but do you use features like UPNP, port forwarding, etc? if so i would use it in modem mode with your Netgear WNDR3800, and wait till better firmware is out.

i'm going to say no (i'm not massively tech savvy anymore) i used it for the better wifi range and connection issues as my hub always seemed to drop out etc so it's been in modem mode for the last 2 + years

best thing to do is to try the hub3 on it's own and see if the wifi range is any good in your house.

tbh i find the hub3 wifi range really good but i still use a asus router because i use features that the hub3 doesn't have.
 
I am having a nightmare with these guys and i havent even started with them yet!. I ordered a deal (big kahuna with vivid 200) on a mates rates ref from Kev on these forums. Confirmed fine all great. Then an e-mail contract came through a few days later wtih the wrong package on it. I called to inform them and got the run around and told they would call me back. After a few days i have called them again to get the same spiel and 'i will put you on hold to sort it' to which i waited on hold for a few mins before they hung up on me.

Called again and got told what random package i was on. Informed that was incorrect as per my order confirmation and he said 'we dont do those packages anymore'. I pointed out they 'did' them at the time of ordering. He said he could upgrade the one they have down for me but it will be more expensive....i declined that and said somebody there must be able to honour the order i have already made. Another 10 odd minutes on hold or more and i got told they have sorted my package out, xl tv and vivid 200 and it will cost me 5 pounds more at 44.99 a month. Thats what i expected to pay anyway so i accepted on the proviso that its still a 12 month contract not on one of their new 18s. He confirmed it and said i would get a new e-mail confirming it all......no e-mail.

If i havent got one by time i finish work tomorrow i will be calling and telling them to scrap my order. How can i go with a company that gives me this much hassle before i am even activated?! Should have just stuck with sky in the first place, lesson learned.
