Looking at getting the 300 broadband and phone package but haven't had virgin before, I take it with them you are likely to get the speed promised rather than with say BT and dodgy phone lines. Mainly interested in the higher upload speed, I see that you can cancel within 14 days of activation but looks like you can't downgrade later without agreeing to take out a new contract, that true?
If your in a area that hasn't got a fault regarding over usage you'll get full speed, if your in a area that does get it you could be looking at speeds miles lower until they upgrade the network.
Thanks for that, says we can get the 300 tier and its not a very heavily populated area so should be ok.
It's not just bandwidth, it's the latency that becomes a huge issue. If your in a area that hasn't got a fault regarding over usage you'll get full speed, if your in a area that does get it you could be looking at speeds miles lower until they upgrade the network.
Just had someone from Virgin Media give me a call, he then came to the flat. He said he had to check stuff so he could clear the property so the installation could go through. He needed a lot of info and also payment info, Have I just been had or is this normal?
He said he was making sure the property was viable as its not been installed before, hopefully I'm just paranoid. I just don’t like giving so much info out.Sounds like your local rep. My folks had one, there's one here but didn't have him around.
My parents one actually got them a stunning deal. I was really dubious when my mum called me to say but it worked out great.
If plex DVR ever supports freesat on pc, tivo and virgin tv are toast in my house!

virgins tv anywhere on PC is terrible, cant log in, it just freezes on the loading screen.
Not a patch on sky go.
Been trying to log in since 7:45 to watch football, has taken 55 minutes to do so. They don't even stream HD channels...

I just gave Virgin a call and they confirmed it was someone from them. It'll be the local rep, I never used him when I placed my order (did it over the phone and provided the same details your folks have) He turned up to my house when I was getting VM installed as on his system he couldn't process orders on our estate and people had been ringing him moaning that I was getting VM installed and they were still waiting.
Have you tried accessing your plex library online? 300 package says it has no upload restrictions so in theory should support high quality streaming, while the lower packages would be limited.
I'm not the person you asked, but I accessed my Plex from Mallorca for a week while on holiday. Mostly a few hours at night (settle the kids, movies for me when they were asleep etc), and it worked flawlessly at 1080p the whole week. No issues. I also allow my family access to my Plex remotely and they've never complained.
