Virgin Media - great service but they really do test my patience at times. (renewal costs)

I‘m starting to move all my email off my ntlworld account to gmail in preparation for leaving these mother ******* !
Been planning on this for years now. Alas, I am still with Virgin lol
Have to say though in all the years I have been with them, I have been without service for no more than 1 day in total.
I just can't put up with the extortionate price rises every year and them giving new customers far better deals than their long term ones.
I totally understand why they do it. They are a business after all.
But I get real sick of battling with them at the end of my contract to get a better deal.

Waiting to see how Cityfibre pans out.

I'm currently paying £91 a month for 1gig, Maxit TV & talk weekends landline. I've not tried calling to cancel yet as there is no alternative in my area (LE11), cityfibre have dug up the pavements around my area but not all connected in yet.

Best speed BT/voda can do in my area is 29Mb down 10Mb up.
LE10 Area. 1gig from virgin £28 a month.
No tv or Landline tho..

It makes no sense, since other FTTP suppliers are charging £25 a month with a no price increase promise for 18 months for synchronous 900Mbps up and 900Mb down whilst VM still chug along with a paltry 100Mbps upload on their 1Gb packages with even slower uploads on the lower packages.

My original contract ended which was £51 for 350mb, landline with talk weekends. Bumped up to £70 so gave them a call. (Plus £10 for my sim only with three.)

I got so fed up with the whole rigmarole of the Indian customer support centres I gave up and asked for a cancellation. Even knowing there’s nothing really comparable in my area, was just fed up of being passed around to different Indian sounding “Kevin’s”, disconnections, over 2 days and waisted hours.

Anyhow got a call back today from a UK based customer retentions, so much more easier. No language barrier, prompt explanations, no waiting on hold etc.

For £41 + £6 for a sim only (switched from my three sim only, which was £10)

1Gb fibre
Land line and weekend calls
Sim only contract with o2 allowing for volt

I really wish I had an alternative to Virgin Media. I hate how they do business and their prices just aren't competitive vs the other FTTP providers.
The next best service I can get in my house is basic ADSL, estimated as 10Mb down, 1Mb up.
