Vista keeps on crashing...

while I was waiting for my dad to finish on the other PC, I thought I'd have another go with my USB stick, and it worked this time and it seen the file. I installed it and it said it passed. Does this mean it has worked?

If so skeeter said about reseting the CMOS jumper, how important is this, because it means I would have to take out my graphics card to get to it?

Thanks,
Yanto.

It is very important to clear CMOS, also, before you start your system up after clearing CMOS make shure that the jumper is put back to it's default position, also when you start the system after clearing CMOS make shure you enter the bios and load the default values, then save and exit.

VERY IMPORTANT: MAKE SHURE YOU UNPLUG THE POWER CABLE WHEN CLEARING CMOS

You should be able to see the bios version from the standard settings menu in bios, or on the boot screen if you disable quiet boot (or similar).

If your system is still unstable, try re-installing Windows and hopfully all will be fine.

right I'll do that then, cheers.

And should I do a fresh install becasue I'm still getting the same errors? or will reseting the bios get rid of the errrors?

It's possible the errors will go away, but, your Windows install may have been corrupt because of the bios not fully supporting the CPU, just check if you are still getting errors, if you are then re-install Windows and check again.

PS: I'm glad you got the bios updated in the end, and keep us posted on your progress.

yep, cheers for all you're help, really I couldn't done it without you, especially you and skeeter the last few days. (not forgetting evveryone else)

anyway once I've reset the jumper, and reconfigured the bios, i'll hopefully get it working again without errors, if not and I still get errors after a clean install I'll let you know.

either way I'll keep you posted :)
Thanks, Yanto.

oh ok, I've done it now, reset the cmos, and reconfigured all the settings in the bios, and I'm still getting loads of errors. I keep getting one saying that DSDEL has stopped working.

and I got this when trying to install the UT3 Demo...

just tryed reinstalling windows, and it blue screened during installation, but it restarted too quick for me to read what it said :(

back to square one I guess.

Glad you got bios sorted.

Shame probs persist, i would recommend you clear the partition of the hdd, and make a new one. Then format it fully (not quick format) and then install vista.

If after all this, get that motherboard replaced.

Also can you try 1.8v for ram and also 2.0v for ram just to rule out the ram volts as a problem. Dont worry its perfectly ok. Also try slacking the timings to 5.5.5.x where x is whatever it was before.

yeah, i did delete the partition and do a proper format when i tryed to reinstall vista, but it still didn't work. I'll have a go at changing the memory timings and volts like you said tomorow, and I'll run memtest again.

cheers, i'll keep you posted.

Yanto.

Also see if u can borrow a optical drive and cable from someone, to rule out dodgy cable/drive

Possibly try diff cable for hdd as well or diff sata port on mb for it.
