Vista RC2 Released

although loading up after a restart is faster.
I think that's the point. SuperFetch learns what you use most often and pre-loads it all into memory before you use it. It's far more agressive and intelligent than XP's Prefetch.

I'm not sure if it's counted as 'used' memory or just 'cached' memory in the performance tab though...

EDIT: This is reasonably well written http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000688.html

I thought the official respons was that the RC2 BEta has been permanently removed now as they claim they only intended a limited number to test it and that number had been reached due to excessive demand.

How many of you are sticking with Vista at the moment?

Only to play with! On a separate drive. I only have Office 2007 Beta installed whereas I have loads of apps installed on XP SP2 - won't swap over until / if I buy Vista - RC1 or RC2 will stop working soon (Jan 2007 is it?) - then where would you be if you dont buy? Will uninstall work?

i am but only because i have to.... :(

bizarrely my gfx card refuses to work in xp (just gets stuck on the bootup screen. if i uninstall the drivers, it's fine so i know it's the card). yet it works flawlessly in vista. aero works and games play just as well as they did in xp. this has me somewhat

if my gfx card worked in xp, i'd switch back in an instant. it's funny because lots of people must be envious of the way vista works on my pc. performance wise it's great. stable as anything, everything works..... but i just don't like it. :o

i'm now using it full time on my desktop and going to be installing it on my laptop in a few days... it's not shutting down properly on my desktop, as it hangs at the very end of shutdown, but if i manually turn it off at that point it's find and dandy.

I'm using it full time on my desktop pc, toying with the idea of installing on my laptop. The only major thing i've noticed on my pc, is the screensaver doesn't work at all! ????

I want to use it as much as possible to get me ahead for any prospective MCP exams in it, but at the same time it's not what I call a great O/S

Anyone have a driver update yesterday afternoon around 17:30(ish)?

Mine updated:

NVIDIA - system - nForce4 PCI-Express Root Port
Installation date: 12/10/2006 17:29
Installation status: Successful
Update type: Optional
Driver Update for Vista device support
More information:
http://winqual.microsoft.com/support/?driverid=9370755
More information:
http://support.microsoft.com/select/?target=hub

Which 'did' (removed it now) result in my network losing connection every 30mins!

Got a screen flicker after I installed this root update, and couldn't fix it, did a fresh install and didn't install it again!

Ive got a small problem, tried to installed the new winamp 5.3 and this is what happens when i start the application.

"this application failed to start becasue PX.dll was not found
Reinstalling this application may fix the problem."

anyone got a fix for this, i doubt its as easy as reinstalling winamp. :(

thanks
