*** VISTA SP1 (now with proper Microsoft.com download links!!!) ***

Vista Business 32 updated earlier in the week for me. Vista Ultimate 64 has been on SP1 for a while, think I got it in the first wave.

Very happy with the network and general file system performance now.

UAC seems to be a lot less annoying for me as well as the time to calculate to do any file system tasks like copying/moving files. Other than that not really noticing much of a difference (Vista 64-bit Home Premium).

Well, I've just survived the last 4 hours reovering from a BSOD at bootup after a failed install of SP1. Thought I'd be facing another fresh install again, but managed to roll back...only after removing 2GB of RAM and switching off a lot of options in the bios..

Finally got SP1 installed. I'll cross my fingers and put the memory back in tomorrow .
Bedtime first...

ditto - except I had to do a full re-install of Vista X64. Removing memory had no effect :(

SP1 installed OK after though:)

is this the update that was supposed to screw up the coppys with a fake dell bios that seems to be floating around ?

Yes, not all pirate copies have been disabled though. I've seen a few OEM's floating around, it's a wonder what MS will eventually do.

has anyone got a found a way of installing it while you have the language packs installed?

SP1 will not install if you have any language pack other than English, German, Spanish, french and Japanese. This may be why some have not had SP1 available through windows update.

I have not recieved SP1 update for x64 Ultimate from MS, I have tried to download and install (which it fails to install) the standalone version my updates are all upto date and I have no other language packs installed. This is a clean install (5 days old) Geniune copy as been activated but no luck as yet...

well it found 5 more updates to install this morning, once they were in it then tried sp1 again and it yet again FAILED, error code 8024200D, the only info I can find on this relates to RC versions and it was never fixed from the look of it?

Think I'll just carry on as is and ignore it for a week before trying again.

SP1 won't show up in WU ,I have tried many many times already :(.I have all the latest drivers and I have installed every update so far.MS doesn't recommend installing the stand alone version as it may cause problems with some hardware parts. What should I do?

All this faffing around with the official release when all you had to do was use the standalone installer released over a month ago!!!

Install the standalone anyway! :p.
Thats what i did on my laptop.

My x32 Laptop didnt pick it up in WU, but the standalone worked fine.
My x64 PC did pick it up in WU, the standalone wouldnt work, but the WU update version worked fine.

Very odd, both both of my machines are on SP1 now. :).

just showed up for me on vista ultimate 32 bit (beats me why sony sell a laptop with 4gb ram and a 32bit os! but thats for another thread :D)

Hmmm I'm a tad puzzled, got Vista Home Premium English UK version on here and I've still not seen hide nor hair of the SP1 download on Windows Update, has it been released for the English UK versions of Vista yet ? or is my windows update on the blink ? Any suggestions chaps. :)
