is this the update that was supposed to screw up the coppys with a fake dell bios that seems to be floating around ?
Well, I've just survived the last 4 hours reovering from a BSOD at bootup after a failed install of SP1. Thought I'd be facing another fresh install again, but managed to roll back...only after removing 2GB of RAM and switching off a lot of options in the bios..
Finally got SP1 installed. I'll cross my fingers and put the memory back in tomorrow .
Bedtime first...

If AHCI was on when you installed windows, there should be no problems with SP1 installing?I've just loaded HP64 onto my system, updates struggled until I turned ahci or whatever it is off, but sp1 just fails every time.
.I have all the latest drivers and I have installed every update so far.MS doesn't recommend installing the stand alone version as it may cause problems with some hardware parts. What should I do?Install the standalone anyway!SP1 won't show up in WU ,I have tried many many times already.I have all the latest drivers and I have installed every update so far.MS doesn't recommend installing the stand alone version as it may cause problems with some hardware parts. What should I do?

.Yes, it will disable those pirate copies.
Burnsy
, but I don't care anymore as I bought myself a copy of vista 64bit, not worth pirating windows anymore imo,
