Unfortunatley m8, you and a host of us are having the same problem at the moment, it seems to be RC1 and the previous build. I thought I had solved by disabling my SATA stuff in BIOS but when I opted for the upgrade instead of running a Dual Boot system the problem returned. RC1 just doesnt like some config of systems, including Multiple Disk support it seems.

Np a fresh driver install and all is fine..

I do have 1 question though, ive installed company of heroes but it refuses to start as im missing a direct x9 dll?? Vista has direct x 10 right, so do i have to install 9 over the top for my games to work??

hi i have this game installed , just make sure you turn some graphics settings down , i installed directx update from microsoft , seems to have worked ?

I've tried having just the 1 drive installed (blank spare 40g) and basically starting from scratch and booting from the CD but still i cant get past the scrolling bar without it locking up.

Has anyone tried putting their monitor to standby in RC1 also. Mine blanks the screen, but doesn't go into standby, it works fine in XP or if I turn off the system, so maybe Vista is still sending some sort of video signal?

i give up, my machine refuses to load either version on any drive i use, it crashes everytime without fail after reboot with the bar scrolling across.

so want to try this out

do you have sata driver , if so it is worth geting hold of the latest drivers and installing them when vista asks where you want to install to , just click load drivers ? as a lot of crashes seems to be because of wrong sata drivers

And a quick one, on pre-RC1 versions I managed to google the method of showing the My Computer, My Docs, Recycle Bin etc.. icons on the desktop but I can't for the life of me find that tweak now and have explored all the options I can think of in the virtual instance I have running, so any chance of a reminder?

right click on desktop --> personalize--> change desktop icons (top left), select what you would like

ok just a fewquestions........will my nod 32 run on vista 32 and how do I get the aero bar up and running whilst using the rc1 realease . Having problems wiht my network as well.It will let me take things off my base pc using my laptop , but when I try to transfere then using the base pc to my laptop I get a not authorised error etc....

i dont have any Sata drives

You can change the default location of My Docs etc by right clicking on the shortcut on the start menu then going to properties then move and selecting the location you want. You can do the same thing in XP but most people dont know about it.

Havent read all the thread but has anyone with a creative sound card noticed that with the vista drivers its a lot quieter that in XP?

Edit, resolved by installing the xp drivers

I just built my conroe rig, installed vista fine and upon inserting the drivers cd that came with my motherboard it reads the disk and goes to the main menu but won't allow me to install anything as it keeps saying something along the lines of the disk not working with my os! i think this just means the disk is meant for windows xp and not vista so it won't install from the cd?

Anyone have any advice or ways around this, as there is some stuff on the cd that i would like!

Try running the setup program on the disk in Windows XP compatibility mode. Set it by right clicking the program and going to properties.

How do I install nVidia drivers on this build?

I got the latest drivers from www.nvidia.com but the installation said thet Windows couldn't be detected.

kk i'l give this a go, just want to know if anyone is using vista on there p5b deluxe or anyone has come across this problem?
