Your ping is almost half better i mean double the amount and you get 24ms ping.

Those pings have been done with virgin media cable.

Well, 76Mb on order from Vodafone. Going in on the 29th apparently. Went through topcashback, so fingers crossed I get £30 cashback too.

Current ping with BBC from Somerset with plusnet 52/10 (or whatever) is 10ms. I would expect it to stay the same as its all the same stuff really

A quick Ping test to Google using my Vodafone Unlimited Fibre 76 (although router is showing a 79mb connection).

Hey all,

Hoping that someone can clear up some confusion for me. We have a BT Infinity 1 contract that expires on 06 November 2017 and we want to switch to Vodafone because it's a lot cheaper.

Our BT bills are generated on the 22nd of each month, and the advance charges (ie. line rental and FTTC) are for the 22nd of the current month until the 21st of the next, eg. 22 June - 21 July. In order to avoid any contract termination charges from BT, do I need to tell Vodafone that we want our service activated on 07 Nov or 22 Nov?

We spoke to BT earlier who couldn't offer us a better deal, and the adviser mentioned that there would be a broadband cessation fee when we switch but this doesn't sound right to me. Was anyone else charged this when they switched to Vodafone?

Ignore your bill cycle, it's largely irrelevant as any advanced charges beyond your contractually stipulated notice period would be refunded.

Cool, thanks. So since my contract expires on 06 November, I should ask Vodafone to activate my new service with them on 07 Nov?

Hi

I had Vodafone fibre fitted a week ago, I already had fibre from BT (what a shocking company, I have never experienced such poor customer service and billing issues with any other company in my life and I'm a middle aged man!!) Anyway all that happened was that my service went off with BT the evening before my Vodafone install date, then the next day Vodafone took over my line and I was up and running with them in 24 hours, hour this helps.

If your contract says 30 days notice, then you give 30 days notice prior, Vodafone place the order and you tell them you want it to be completed after the date your notice period with BT takes you up to. It's literally that easy as you are then out of contract and not having to pay BT for service they aren't providing/risking early termination charges.

This is over the 5Ghz channel. Stock router downstairs, PC upstairs.

60/20 minimums, again over the 5Ghz channel.

Just signed up for Unlimited Fibre 38 @ £20 (way outside the village so we only get 11Mbps here as the cab is 1km away and the last 500mtrs of that is overhead line)
Have been with PlusNet since Huawei FTTC cab went live paying them £17.50 plus BT's extortionate line rental so will save a few bob, just hope everything goes without a hitch. Due to swap on 4th October, fingers crossed :D

It should always be that simple, connection goes down, you swap kit, it comes back up. Anything else is usually entry error by the ISP.

So people who have changed to Vodaphone recently, hows it going? My BT infinity 1 deal is about to run out and I don't fancy paying 50 quid a month! My max speed is usually around 42 so I'm thinking of just going to a 38/10 deal again.
I've previously been with Sky, and Plusnet and not had any issues...

Current BT retentions offers are £26.99 for 52/10 inc line, £35.99 for 76/20 inc line. You can probably get lower depending on circumstances or jump ship to Voda.

I phoned BT on Friday and they best they could offer me for Infinity 1 (52/10) was £33.99 on an 18 month contract when I mentioned Vodafone :/

They will tell you that every offer is the best offer. I suspect with repeat faults/issues/complaints, I'd have been able to get them to go lower, but in my case I was happy to stay put and the price was OK for the extras on offer.
