From what I gather from reading theses articles and others on the web, the funding is coming from muslim external sources & not from our Tax money....all 100m of it (and from what I've heard, this is expected to be more like 250million when its finished - like most other large London based projects which were poorly planned and rushed through)

That being said, I still think it will be an absolute blot on the landscape and any aerial photos / video of the olympics will be spoiled by it. It shouldn't go there and is merely there to say 'look how big mine is - and look where we are' to the world during one of the most important and most watched London events for the last 100 years.

And sorry to offend here - but in my opinion, most mosques are tacky looking (more suited to the strip in Vegas) and from an architectural point of view they are hideous - their designs are terribly tasteless.

Sorry to offend here but i find most churches in this country an eye sore...i say get rid of them..tear them down and come up with some better designs tbh. Heck use some of the existing mosques as a design for any future churches

I don't like them either - Some cathedrals are very pleasing to the eye - but most churches are just shoddy buildings a mere step up from a community hall. Still find mosques tacky though - too much 'bling bling' these days and not enough beautiful minerets/domes - they are all gaudy gold and bad taste(and thats even worse - as most are modern buildings)

Have to disagree with you there bud, I find Churches stunning. Some great pieces of architecture.

Not very warm or friendly mind you, would fit in well in horror/thriller type films, but as man-made buildings they have a certain...character.
