was just about to say something then your edit popped up lol
Yeah I thought I should qualify that statement haha. Essentially party politics and running the country for the good of it's citizens aren't completely compatible and parties tend to balance bad, but vote winning ideas with good, but vote losing ideas to try and stay in power. Having a good, vote winning idea and giving it away when in opposition is a really bad thing to do in politics. You also have to suspect that oposition MPs will vote through bad policies put forward by the government because they know they're vote losers.

Come back when you an argument worth promulgating.

You claimed you voted Labour because you were a Liberal, but Labour aren't a liberal party so the question you were asked is entirely relevant.

Two of the cornerstones of Liberalism are free trade and private property. Labour however are for nationalization and regulation.

Wrong matey. Read my post again. I said I was liberal minded. In other words I'm very open to issues of equality and the rights of the individual. Politically, I find the Labour Party to be the best fit to my liberalism. The fact that we have a party in the UK with the word 'liberal' in it's title is irrelevant.

Maybe you should check the definitions of 'liberal'. There are many and you seem to be focusing on just one.

You basically insulted anyone who doesn't vote labour.

You could say that realists vote conservative, open minding people vote Liberal, the hippies vote green, the empaths vote labour and the disillusioned and nationalists vote UKIP.

Those gosh darn open minded people.

If you are going to insult people at least tone it down a notch.

And what party isn't interested in equal rights? We've just had a Tory led government leaglise gay marriage (something Labour seemed unable to do) so I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that only Labour care about those things.

Labour (traditionally) are NOT for individual rights, they are (again historically anyway) socialists which means the rights of the group supersede the rights the individual, the opposite of liberalism.

I was not concentrating on one aspect of libralism, I was quoting a cornerstone and necessary part of it which I don't believe Labour have and therefore cannot claim to be a part of that group. It would like being saying you are environmentalist whilst denying climate change.

Here in northern Ireland, an awful lot of very narrow minded people simply vote nationalist/unionist simply due to religious reasons. They either don't care or understand the more important issues.

Really. I would refute that. But what's the point. I think conservatives of any stripe are the problem. I'm sure you would refute that.

We're never going to agree. Just cast your vote at the election and I'll cast mine.

Yet you said you would only vote labour? It's people that are set in their ways that mean the maim political parties don't have to actually follow through on their manifesto pledges (or even do what the people want), becuase they know there is a large proportion of people who will vote for them whatever they think...

And who says I'm a conservative...? I vote based on policy at the time rather than the name of the party.. ;)

I love that raving lunatic party or whatever they called, haven't a clue about their polices if they have any I just like the fact they are raving lunatics lol

Normally a Labour voter, have switched to BNP and now UKIP, will go back to BNP if out of control immigration isn't addressed.

I have always voted conservative mainly due to way they handle the economy

I think labour are the last mainstream party I would vote for. My views tend to be opposite to them especially on financial things. I dread to think what would have happened if they had been in power last term. Spend your way out out of problems.. Even if you don'thave any money.. Worry about that later and go to wonga.Com

A Scottish relative of mine said before the 2010 election "I agree with the conservatives, but I am voting Labour because of Thatcher" :p

Lol - people
This happens a lot. Really makes you question that everyone should have a vote lol
Never underestimate the power of irrational grudges
