Yeah but it also encourages people to spend with OCUK even if the part is a few quid cheaper elsewhere.

That's where a 1 card limit would come in although I doubt the bots are buying multiple 3000 series Gpus with the same account as supposedly it's been 1 per household / account for a while now.

Not really if I'm being forced to spend £3k with a store on parts I don't need then I'm better off just paying eBay prices tbh.

Not everyone upgrades their full system to the best parts available on a yearly basis. For example I'm using a b350 motherboard with a 3600x. And I bought the motherboard of the mm second hand. Your effectively making it available to those that are either building systems for people professionally or spend large sums of money on upgrades yearly rather than gamers, etc.

Having a gold account wouldn't be worth the benefits to folk who don't have unlimited budgets for gpu's.

Your not being forced to though since if you read my earlier post having a MM unlocked linked forum account is the other option for getting the gold account so for people who don't want to spend big have the option to contribute on the forums instead which costs nothing.

I binned my DVDs of Flaming Cliffs and Lock On. Got the Elite Dangerous Kickstarter Box with a polo shirt :) These are on the wall though :)

Love this, I'm going to (poorly) attempt this myself with the Battlefield series of games, I've got every PC release back to 1942. :)

I loved the original Il-2 so much I didnt have the heart to bin them. I think I bought Forgotten Battles in 2003 and spent a whole day trying to take of in a Fw-190 before I realised that the airspeed was in kph :)

Another thought. You cant do that with DLC :)

Over the last 13 years, you've spent 7696.5 hours playing this selection, which includes 227 items

If just one game is 3767 I hate to think what my whole library is. I'm not even going to look :D

I don't get to game half as much these days as when I was younger so it doesn't go up so quick these days.

All just pointless suggestions as they don't have the manpower or capabilities to implement it on the current site anyway.

The system is the system and ocuk will implement what works for them.

Yeah not right now but maybe something like this for future releases, Gibbo himself said he's looking for alternatives going forward as the voucher system can only go so far.

I think this kind of system will have to continue for a while at least. As said earlier, Gibbos already said he’s not doing any more launches atm as it’s just a total ballache. When something like the 3080 Ti is launched, they’ll probably get a trickle, and it would make their lives infinite times easier if it was done by the voucher system.

Let's be real, this isn't the 2000s and the the way high value items are being bought and /monitored has changed, companies need to adapt, be it anti bot techniques or improved backend services to handle user traffic more effectively.

I would argue that this is an amoral position. What you are affectively saying is that it is ok for a very small subset of people to be narcistic in looking out for their own interests and using bots to buy items on the internet before the retailer has even listed them for sale to the general public. Then selling the item on for a profit, this is the opposite of utilitarianism as you are arguing that the interests of the scalpers is greater than the majority. You are saying its the responsibility of the retailer to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on IT systems to counter those using bots, not the moral responsibility of the scalpers to behave in a way which benefits society as a whole, a narcistic view point.

If your view is acceptable then please tell me why enough people have complained about this situation to Members of Parliament that a bill to outlaw what you are presenting as acceptable is in front of Parliament

The proposal in Parliament supports OcUK position that they just want to currently get one gpu in the hands of genuine customers not scalpers

I managed to bag an Xbox Series X this morning so I've put trying to get a GPU to bed for now. My I5 / 1660ti runs Iracing and Flight Sim 2020 just. Think I'm going to wait this one out and become a Gamepass gimp.

Wow I've been a member for maybe 15 years or so, come on here relatively often over the years and nowhere near the 1000 . Good to know someone is doing something about this rubbish situation however, guys why not just use a captchta? I thought bots couldn't read those so can't understand why that's not a thing?

But captchtas don't cost hundreds of thousands of pounds to implement. Smaller businesses can just sell the gpus with whole new systems (which is what I believe they're doing anyway), or raffle buying tickets is damn simple for a small business, or just increase their prices. Just ideas off the top of my head.
Another simple idea - phone sales only so you know its human. Theres loads of things small AND big businesses could do.

I'd agree business' do need to change with the times. I'm happy to see such a big company like ocuk doing this, really didn't expect it (they're getting their money even if scalpers buy at the end of the day)

Scalpers won't change when there's profit to be made someone will try to do it.

How do you know they don’t have the manpower? You seem to know a lot.

You’re dismissing every suggestion like you’re staff. Yet the staff have said they are looking at other methods.
