Hi everyone, I want to use a VPN specifically for my LG Smart TV to change my streaming region. Is it possible to install a VPN app directly onto WebOS, or do I have to set it up on my router? Looking for the easiest method. Thanks

The problem is content providers don't want you to do that, and as such, they play a game of cat and mouse with VPN providers. You could try a smart DNS service, or doing it at the router level, if you have a docker host, try setting your TV to use a proxy and point it to a suitable VPN container, but sooner or later commercial providers will pick up on commercial VPN providers ranges and block them, even the ones that claim otherwise still have the same problems from time to time.

Worth mentioning it's a lifetime price, you keep renewing, it stays the same.

Yup. I'm on the lifetime Pro with Windscribe, and I can't complain with the speeds or the latency (IKEv2, macOS)!
ETA: BTW, I'm paying $19/year. Keep an eye out for the deals.

I’ve managed to set up a VPN specifically for my Smart TV, and traffic does appear to be going through the VPN tunnel. However, I am running into what looks like a DNS leak (or something similar) that I can’t seem to control.
The issue is that the TV still keeps connecting to servers in London, even though the VPN endpoint is in a different region.

I think the $19/yr price is probably behind us, that said the people who got lifetime via StackSocial etc. years ago got an amazing deal. Also IKEv2 and macOS is not the combination I would expect you to be running, but then again for general use, it's a hell of a lot better than nothing.

When I'm out and about with my M3 MacBook Air (we're in Devon a lot lately due to a terminally ill relative), IKEv2 is the only protocol that really makes sense. It's the only kernel-level protocol, meaning I can run a single charge for the whole three-day weekend on hotel WiFi without worrying about WireGuard eating my charge. My phone and everything else sit behind WireGuard on FreeBSD or Linux. ;)
