*** VR Deals Thread ***

I ended up buying Virtual Desktop with my Quest + Cash. Even though I've found Steam link fine wirelessly. So now I'm going to find a cable long enough to run from my upstairs pc to my downstairs router, it's not too far away. I've Half Life Alyx waiting in my Steam wishlist, I'm playing Half life 2 VR mod at moment and it's amazing. Going to look in my library to see what other pc games I can run. I have Asseto corsa, and I have a Logitech wheel and pedals setup, unsure how this works yet but if it does it'll be fun. :)

assetto Corsa in vr works really well. iirc you need to disable some of the post processing effects.

other games to try which are generally cheap as chips in sales
dirt rally 2
pcars2
elite dangerous
no mans skies.
hell blade (1)
star wars squadrons
Skyrim vr./ fallout 4 vr

Skyrim VR is interesting, hilarious at the start due to the bugs in the introduction, lol.
IMO it absolutely needs mods, first to make it playable and then to add some functionality.

Virtual Desktop is very good imo but it does need a hard-wired Ethernet connection from the PC to the router.

@Jimbo is it this version you modded

Using.....the VR mod within the Steam store..?

Thanks

The one im using is the very first one at top of list if you type in half life 2 vr in the search box in store on steam. Developer is Source VR Mod team and Publisher is Flat2VRstudios.

Well worth it!

Agree. I needed to check where the heck it had gone. I remember buying Half-Life when it first came out and could have sworn that I'd bought the follow-up, so iconic.

Anyway, bought, and I'll be able to add the VR modded versions, hopefully :)

I have been modding the Resident Evil games, altho my wife is not impressed with them. To b fair, I'm very impressed when she has tried one, just watching and listening to her reactions, lol.

Blade and Sorcery........ but get the Steam PCVR version and NOT the Quest one. Most entertaining.

Once I figured out (saw a post on Reddit) that you have to use both trigger buttons to use the Half-Life 2 VR mod menus it became instantly better as I didn't have to keep lifting my headset up and loading/saving with the mouse. Other than falling into the train track at one point and not being able to extricate myself without loading a save it's a blast so far. I wish VR had been a thing years ago as there are so many FPS games I have never played that might have potential now (as long as there's a teleport option) :).

Wow, didn't know that. There are some options that seem so much needed but so completely not obvious when you are playing. It took me ages and much searching to figure out with the word block game that comes with the Quest headset, need to use hands and not controllers, you can pinch your finger and thumb to bring up a virtual menu......Damn that was not obvious...!

Like you, so many games that I did not bother with in 2D could have been played and enjoyed in VR.

Watching one of our grandchildren play Robo Recall, all of his body movements etc, is so entertaining, lol.

You can also cast the quest visuals to a TV or simliar, (also to the Meta app on your phone!, if you don't have a capable TV), so that you can see what they're seeing as well. I cast to an old chromecast.

Damn, did not know that....!

Is that done prior to staring a game from the Quest UI type options..? And, would work with SteamVR, and all the Meta type games etc..?

That would be so useful, and fun.

Thanks

if you use the meta app on your phone, I think it can be done anytime.. I've not tried it on PC games.. as they are already shown on the PC screen.. so I can already see...

Yeah, the PCVR games seem to replicate on the PC. Wasn't sure if they could be cast to our TV instead / as well. I'll have a look later as I have the Meta app on my phone and could probably use that to cast to the Sony TV.

Thanks

République VR is now free on the Meta Store
