*** VR Deals Thread ***

Long shot but anyone got a spare Vtol VR key lying around they don't want? or a really cheap key ?

I have one copy of the game, but now both my boys want to play at the same time..

That looks good, anyone here played it?

I've got it on PCVR.

It's visually quite impressive though the gameplay can get a little frustrating, which put me off finishing it. Some quite tricky climbing and jumping sections. The gunplay is ok, but not amazing.
Thanks for the info.

Well I have bought a bunch of stuff recently to be playing.

Doesn't sound like I should "jump" on this one as it's on sale. Maybe grab it at during the XMAS Steam sale or similar.

Having said that, really enjoyed the new Aliens movie the other week so planning on treating myself to the new Aliens game on Steam for the XMAS break.

"Treating" myself might be the wrong term mind, it's probably going to be terrifying...

"Treat" yourself to a game of Alien Isolation in VR. Probably cheaper than the new Aliens game on Steam and much more of a "treat"

If by 'treat' you mean scare the living daylights out of you multiple times until you 'nope' out of the headset, then yes, it's a 'treat'. :D

It's also a must play experience. Just amazing to be inside that world shown in Alien.

It's in my steam library. Had it for years. Played about 3hrs yeeears ago.

I understood the VR version was canned during development but there was a mod to play it.

Or is it just an option in the normal game now or something?

Fantastic Bundle here (came across it looking for a Pistol Whip key...)

There is a mod. It's called the mother mod. Definitely worth trying out.

This it the Alien Isolation mod:

Note that there's no proper motion controls support - you use your controllers like a gamepad mostly. It's still the scariest VR game I've ever played and being inside those environments which look EXACTLY like the original Alien is incredible.

Walkabout mini golf game bundle is 25% off on steam

Do people normally buy their VR games on steam or the quest/meta store ?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of this ?

Guessing if you buy on steam you can play on any VR headset where if you buy on the meta store you can only play them games on the quest headsets
But if you buy on steam are them games only going to work when next to a PC for air-link, steam link etc

me personally its quest. but thats because i dont have a VR capable PC at the moment.

if i did have a VR ready PC most of my purchases would be through PC. with exclusives or spesifc reasons meaning i might have it on both.

meta store games are fairly cheap all things considered. but steam will be more mod-able and better supported i feel. more robust in to the future i feel.
possibilities of hosting private servers like with EchoVR were PC files can more easiliy be updated

having a standalone headset is great, not having to worry baout lugging a PC round and playing were ever you want.
so there are pros and cons to it all.
i personally dont like being tied to Meta. but its the only way i'll play VR with the chaps at the moment monday nights

Yes, for games that work well on the Q3 headset it does make life easy to to play standalone wherever you can find a space. I would only be swayed if there are two versions and PC VR is noticeably better.
