VW Golf GT TDi 110 (whats this find like?)

golf's are for posers and women.

be a man and get a focus tdci 115, which is cheaper, faster (then the 110), handles better and even cheaper to insure. also with a remap it will give a pd 150 a run for its money.

just make sure you get a warrenty for when the DMF/injectors fail.

Problem with the Focus is that the interior feels cheap compared to a Golf.

suppose in some ways. i've had 2 with 70k on them, few rattles and creaks.

but the one i had with 50k, supposedly motorway miles, was like new

It's bigger by 20mm. And the Golf isn't exactly an Aston Martin in the looks department is it? It's some hatchback. The R32 looks nice but a boggo diesel isn't going to snap knicker elastic at 20 paces. You dont buy it for its dashing good looks.

Then it must be down to personal preference :)

Yep, only reason im not going for a focus, I cant afford the new shape, so it would have to be the old shape, and the interior just reminds me of the old style that ford used to employ years ago....Very outdated, old, cheap and looks gastly

the mk1.5 focus is not "ford old style" it's still pretty modern.

a mk2 mondeo however is very old fashioned

Ok i'm guessing you have a Focus :)

Has full VW history, cam belt changed at 80k, it is spotless inside and out. new tyres.

6 months warrenty with £1000 per claim (no excess) for everything apart from servicing.

It's being serviced before i have it tomorrow

Nice :)

sounds a good un then :)

although you could have got a nice A4 for the same money :) on similar mileage and plate :)

Congratulations!

Always exciting to get a new car. Think these Golfs are a bit overpriced myself, but if that's the market, that the market....

Are you going to get the engine remapped?

I know but the A4's are group 12 insurance, not good for someone my age with 6 points and a claim ;)

My mate phoned me up as soon as i told him and asked him if im going to get it re-mapped, but i dont think i will. Would be no need to. Plenty enough for me :)

Arghgh why do people continue to perpetuate these myths? Spend a few hours ringing insurers! Group 12 is not a high group, there is no reason why someone who is older than me cannot insure one. I insure a Group 17 car with 3 points, no NCB and a claim. You just need to spend a few hours ringing round.

Trust me mate iv spent plenty of time ringing round insurers, iv been looking at getting a new car for the last year, the only reason i have one is because i wrote my one off last week.

Like i said earlier on in the thread, im on a very tight budget. I cant afford an A4.
