**WANT 8GB 2400MHz FOR AS LITTLE AS £59.99 Inc. VAT? - THEN CHECK THIS THREAD OUT!!** (MV-3V4G3D/US)

Ok lets see what we can do with these. You trying to run 2133 yeah??? why not more with Ivy??? Set Dram voltage to 1.65v just for starters. VCCIO 1.15-1.20 again this can come down.

Samsung Timings should slope up. Good Samsungs can run very low TRAS at high mhz eg TRAS 21 at 2800mhz.

Then set the following:
9-11-11-28 2T
TRRD 7
DRAM ref cycle Time 181
TWR 16
TRTP 7
TFAW 24
TWTR 7
TWCL 8

DRAM refresh interval around 10000 I cant tell exactly from work.

ALL tertiary Timings or secondary Timings 5 as I cant remember from work which ones I tune to less than 5.

Rest on auto

See how this goes then I will tell you how to tune. If you cant post and get an error code let us know what that is.

Are you using 2 or 4 DIMMS??? what else is in your system???

When I get home I can give you more settings anyway!!!

Thanks for the additional info 8 Pack. I've updated my bios, and for some reason I can't access the voltage menu. Its CPU/DRAM/GPU Voltages are on [Auto] selecting them no longer shows the popup with the selection.

I've tried to clear cmos to no avail, I'll leave the battery out for a while.

Ignore the above I'm a div, with the new firmware you no longer get the menu instead press +/- to navigate through the values

Ok with the new bios I can get it to boot at 2133Mhz, I'll have to keep playing to try and achive 2400Mhz. I'll follow your settings and update once I get somewhere.

If you can post your settings when you get home I'd really appreciate it!

With ivy you dont always have to add voltage to gain stability. Does MSI have settings for transmitter slews?? Samsung Slews are 3 read 4 write I think for improved stability. 2400 9-11-11-21 1T high Vdimm. or 11-11-11-28 -1t, or 10-12-12-31 1T.

Boot and stable are too different things at least test with memtest for stability.

Just a quick update, I've managed to find the correct setup to run the ram (4x4GB) at 2133Mhz, 9-10-10-28 1T @ 1.64V seems to be the sweet spot for me. Ran SuperPi and Memtest for a few hours with no errors, unfortunatley I can't get any settings to boot at 2400Mhz. I'm happy with my purchase.

8 Pack, MSI board doesn't allow you to change the transmitter slews.

4 x4gb on Z77 should be fine at 2400mhz though. But if your happy thats the main thing. Have you tried VCCSA 1.25 and VCCIO 1.25 for 2400 mate. I would try. Ivy does 2400 at a canter. Also try tuning TRAS on 2133 for added perf Samsung should run low tras like 21 at 2133 easy. Well it does on ASUS Max V gene.

Hi all,

My new i5 3570K, MSI Z77A GD65 and 16GB Samsun Green memory arrived yesterday.

I’m currently clocked at x42 with the voltage set to “Auto”. The system appears to be stable (two hours Prime95 and 71C max temps).

However, if I touch the DRAM frequency (anything above 1600) the system won’t even POST. I have tried upping the voltage (1.5v), but this does not appear to make any difference. I think there is another issue somewhere, but simply don’t know where to look.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Matt.

Hi Matt, I just overcame the same issue with the MSI mobo, update your BIOS to the latest 10.5 should be all good

Hi,

Thanks for the information. I'm already on the lastest BIOS

I have my system configure at 100 x43 with all power saving features off (EIST, Turbo Boost, C-State, etc). My CPU voltage is set at 1.2400v (outside of OC Genie).

Do you have the power saving features disabled?

What are your memory settings? I'm new to memory overclocking, any chance you can post a screenshot? I would love to hit 2133 (which I think is possible).

Cheers,

Matt.

I'm still following 8 Packs recommendations to get the memory to run at 2400Mhz, but failling even with setting VCIO and VCSA I can't get the system to boot :(

I'm managed to run stable at 2133Mhz using the following settings 9-10-10-28 1T @ 1.64V

Edit:

I have power saving features at default, I've also managed to tighten up my timings now running with TRAS 21. CPU Overclocked to 4.6Ghz

Cool, I'll give these setting a shot. To be honest I had not expected to have to push 1.64V through them. IS this safe for 24x7? I was seeing on other posts people getting 2133 on as little as 1.45V.

Cheers,

Matt.

1.45 is safe for sure. Some major manufacturers using these IC's have 1.65 as default obviously because they are using higher frequency XMP. Dont worry its fine.

Whoops, sorry there was a typo in my last post, it should have said 1.64v not 1.46v (I've updated). :o

So to confirm, 1.65v is ok for a 24x7 overclock with this memory? Is that the limit?

Cheers,

Matt.
