**WANT 8GB 2400MHz FOR AS LITTLE AS £59.99 Inc. VAT? - THEN CHECK THIS THREAD OUT!!** (MV-3V4G3D/US)

I'm struggling myself with 4 sticks of this on an Asus P8z77-v pro with the latest bios.
With 2 sticks I can hit 2400mhz 11-11-11-30 1.56v no problem, and 2133mhz 10-10-10-28mhz 1.5v, but put the other two sticks in and it won't boot past 1600mhz, it either starts then switches itself off immediately or the memtest light stays on. I've tried upping the vccsa which also controls the vccio (there's no separate vccio setting on this board) and upping the memory to 1.65v, but still no joy :(

it has to be bios imo

im running 16gb just fine, vccsa and vccio should be left at stock unless your ocing with the bclk too, mine are at stock, using 1.625v dram voltage

I thought that myself so I updated to the latest bios, and I raised the vccio as I thought the memory controller might be struggling.

@hanluc - I was, sorry :)
So you can easily get to 2400MHz with two sticks, but with four, you struggle to exceed even 1600MHz. Your using a different board, too, so raises concerns that the issue isn't with the bios but with the board or CPU. Arghh!

It would be interesting to know how other P8z77-v pro owners get on.

even with the latest bios for z77 it wont be as mature as those for z68,thats why im guessing you cant reach higher speeds yet on some z77 boards, the cpu's themselves should have better imc's

i found the only thing you really need to raise is the dram voltage

ive even had the same ram running on x58 12gb @2133mhz 10-10-10-28-1t timings and 1.62v dram voltage but needed a whopping 1.54 qpi/vtt voltage

Hey all,

I've just built a Z77A-GD65 with 3770k and 4x4gb of this awesome RAM :)

On the latest bios 10.5 I am stable 2133mhz at 11-11-11-28-1T but only Prime stable @ 1.56v, SuperPi fas fine @ 1.5v - will prob play around more later as not tried 2400 yet and would love that but don't really wanna push the voltage up much more!!

That speed was using the turbo overclocking method and power saving on so the board seems fairly solid but only to 4.2, temps are nice and low with the Dark Rock Pro 2 (super quiet also) so will push it up shortly, am trying to figure out all the options in the bios as have had Gigabyte for years lol

Bob.

I really can't work out why you can and I can't?!
Is it a fault with the cpu mobo or ram?

I cannot even post above 1800MHz no matter what dimm volts I try!

Seems to be your BIOS imo, another user with same mb has same problem, you can return them under dsr rules and order another set to rule out a bad batch but I'd say its your BIOS that's limiting you atm

Done some more testing... results from me:

4x Sticks... no matter the settings, cannot POST above 1800MHz :(

2x Sticks... limit goes up to 2133MHz, can't POST at anything above that

Sounding like an MSI BIOS updated is needed.

Very peculiar that eddie can POST with 4 sticks at 2133 though... seems quite a few of us can't even get to 1866 with 4 sticks :(
