**WANT 8GB 2400MHz FOR AS LITTLE AS £59.99 Inc. VAT? - THEN CHECK THIS THREAD OUT!!** (MV-3V4G3D/US)

My experience of overclocking ram is 0.

I would need some help if I bought this ram... thats why I asked whats an easy overclock to aim for.

what board are you getting? it depends on sandybridge cpu or ib,x79 will have better clocking potential and z77 even better

thats with 8gb using 2600k and asus z68 v pro,if i throw in my other 8gb kit to make 16gb i need to raise dram voltage from 1.55v to 1.625v,im guessing that mixed batch numbers arnt helping idk

Well depending on your Choice of Format, and Board I could certainly help with some comprehensive settings no problem. Screenshots of things like mem-tweak it will give you all my settings.

Im probably going to pick up the Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H and a 3570k.

Well my settings are all on ASUS boards but I can certainly help with some ball park settings. My Asus MVG clocks ram very well if you want an alternative. It just depends what features your after I suppose but if overclocking is a high priority the MVG is a real power house!!!

I've not even had a chance to overclock mine yet, I wouldn't even know where to begin. So I guess I need to read the thread for instructions.

But I have fitted some RAM coolers, just for looks mind. :D

Happy running at 1866

Thx everyone for your input, helped me buying 16 gb.

I got 2 different batches wich is meh since I even called ocuk and asked for 2 the same sets......35m wasted on 0871 number

If anyone has timings for 2133 on gigabyte p67-ud5 I would be happy

ok thanks, will start on my cpu today. :p

:) to be honest it doesn't really matter either way - but always only clock one element and test, before testing both together otherwise you've no idea whats unstable the RAM or CPU.

but I normally find it easier to clock the CPU then the RAM :)

good luck and enjoy :)

I now have the final 24/7 settings for my ASUS MVG / 2500K system.

4x 4GB sticks @ 2133MHz 9-10-10-24 1T 1.5v. CPU @ 5GGHz.

I didn't even have to touch the sub timings. All 4 sticks are 1205 stepping sourced elsewhere. They will also do 2400MHz at 11-12-11-28 2T 1.55v, but this benches slower than the above settings with tighter timings. 2400MHz is pretty impressive for a Sandy Bridge IMC, and I bet they would do 2600 to 2800 on Ivy Bridge.

I want to overclock my i5 3750k, but should I overclock my RAM first before attempting the CPU?
Clock the CPU first to see how high she goes with stock ram. Then set the CPU to stock and see how far the ram gooes. Lastly find the best combination of the two. With IB and SB processors, CPU MHz makes much more difference than RAM MHz. Once you go past 1600MHz on the ram there is little real world gain. Going from 1600MHz to 2133MHz gives me about 1-2% overall system gains. That's about the same as going from 4.9GHz to 5GHz on the CPU.

Please help!! What am I doing wrong I have set Memory to 1.5v and anything above 1866MHz wont boot and even 1866MHz wont prime for more then 1 min....please help what am I dong wrong?
