War of the Worlds

You should listen to the original broadcast from 1938, "before" watching the series to see where all of this orginated.

Surely that should be "read the original book by HG Wells that is actually set in England in the Victorian time period"?

I agree, but not everybody has the ability to read something of that length and the audio version is unique considering everything.

The solitary IMDB review made me laugh.

Will George convince his separated wife to sign the divorce papers so that he and Amy can marry properly before the Martians make divorce and marriage irrelevant? Will George reconcile with his estranged brother Frederick in time to get his blessing for their premarital union before the Martians take over Parliament? Will Amy's wallpaper arrive in time for the workmen to hang it and let it dry before giant tripods stomp the village flat?

Tune in for Episode 2 next week.

I recently caught a documentary about War of the Worlds, the impact of the Orson Welles 1938 radio airing.

Despite not a film, Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds will always be the definitive version for me, simply the music, artwork and Richard Burton as the narrator is enough - I doubt this combination will ever be bettered on the silver screen.

Pretty sure it's the BBC one that has aired, and the FOX one comes out at the end of the month, at least according to Wiki.

.... I'm confused, it's not on Iplayer (that I can see) there seems to be no release date for it either (after a quick google) just had a look at my other source and indeed it seems like the BBC's first two episodes are available which I miss took as being the Fox version....

I'm halfway through watching the first episode now.

Just stopped to cook some chicken and fried rice.

Quite digging it so far.

Mammoth Screen announced in September 2019 that the series is expected to be released in the UK in late 2019. The War of the Worlds first premiered on T+E in Canada between 6 and 20 October 2019, and was broadcast on TVNZ 1 in New Zealand in two parts between 13 and 20 October 2019

The airing comes after a long delay of the mini-series, which shot in mid-2018 and was originally expected to air that festive season.
RadioTimes.com understands the delay may have been due to issues with the special effects work required on the drama, and that with more time the work has now been completed.

I dont understand why its not being announced on the BBC when its been shown overseas unless its something to do with money which I wouldnt be surprised in knowing the BBC's Overseas sales reputation!

A lot has already been put up on YT and it does indeed look impressive for TV. I imagine the Beeb will keep this for Christmas because of this.
