The moon landing means about as much to me as the pile of religous literature such as "The Bible" which replaced my loo roll.

Real or not. What do you want me to do? Hi Five NASA for spending billions upon billions on the big question "what if" rather than concentrating on the devloping world known as "now".

Those guys get to live in dream land 24/7. Much like religion and its level of control it tries to bestow on weak minded, NASA get to spend all their money on big toys to find what could have been, and then get to tell us all about they found some rocks with a robot named after a dead car company.

Bleh. It's like that Focus ST advert. What do you dreampt of being as a child (over exaggerted dreams that is)... Astronaughts are about as important as sports stars.

in case you didnt know, astronauts are explorers/scientists. theyre the people who put their lives at risk so we can expand our knowledge outside the planet we live on.

sports stars are just glorified athletes looking to achieve something which is only beneficial to themselves (in the short term).

I agree with some of the things you said but you risk your life by going into space, Nasa could spend all the money on exploring the sea but would you rather know about the sea, we know about the fish we need to know about and the seas terrain or rather than the moon and space and our life source.

The Sun. The single most important thing to human life.

I watched a programmed about the sun and its black spots, these created a major impact on the earth 100s of years ago, they cooled the earth down, the have cycle of 11 years, they still happen but the reason why the earth doesnt cool down is because of global warming. ;)

When it was built it was the largest building in the world. The top of the roof is the highest point in florida :D

Ive got 36 books on my shelf about mercury, gemini, apollo, nearly all the astronaut biographies available, i get really annoyed with conspiracy theorists, its one hell of a arranged story if its not.

What is quite amusing was before Apollo 8 left earths orbit, the flat earth society still insisted that the earth would be shown to be flat, when the pictures came back of the earth as a globe, they claimed that the astronauts were heretics and the pictures doctored.

People would think the above is ludicrous, but its no more ludicrous than suggesting we didnt goto the moon.

I think that there is a difference between being able to put "things" on the moon and the "landings"; not even the conspiracy people believe that the rockets weren't built or that we can't orbit an unmanned vehicle around the moon.

It is quite simple really. We know that the moon is moving away from us at 3.8cm per year. This is due to the tide believe it or not. Either way, we only know that it is moving away from us is because we can measure it with the incredible accuracy. On the moon landing, large reflective surfaces were placed up there such that when we fire a laser through a telescope and get a reflection, (to measure distance) we measure how long it took for light to do the round trip. This alone proves that it was real. People who choose to believe naff programs on CH5 for example simply need to get all the facts before makin up their mind.

Quite simply. It happened. Get over it, and think of something a little more controversial to conspire over.

No joke I've seen it, it was on Australian TV over Christmas.

It takes video footage from the pentagon and asks where the wreckage of an airliner went because there's no engines/metal/luggage etc etc visible at the crash site. It also shows some of the early video footage before the outer wall fell down and I must admit it looks more like a missile attack but I'm sceptical as to how selective the footage is.
It also claims that the owner of the towers filed to have them demolished and that the way in which the towers fall down is too similar to a planned demolition to be coincidence. It goes on to say that the 5th building that was imploded later in the day on 9/11 for safety reasons should have taken 8 weeks to plan and execute yet it was done in 8 hours.
There's about 45 minutes of the presenter trying to convince the audience that the planes that hit the towers had missiles hung under their fuselage based on low-res zoomed in poor quality video footage which was a bit tenuous. It's an interesting theory but I think that's all it is.

As for the moon, we've been there :D

Rojon: If you're going to make a serious case that we have never been to the moon, then you need to come up with a credible answer to the following conundrum.

When we went to the moon, the USA were locked in the cold war with the USSR. Both were desperate to be the first ones to reach the moon, and would gain massively from beating the other. Who would gain the most from exposing the moon landings as a fake? Obviously, the USSR. In fact, the USSR tracked the Apollo rocket all the way to the moon, and they were satisfied that it was real. If they had any evidence to support the fact that it was a fake, why didn't they say anything?

I also suggest that you read this for more elucidation on the subject.

The USSR were afraid. The US threatened the USSR with nuclear war if they didn't keep their traps shut. The USSR were so scared that they kept the secret.

So how did they fake transmissions from the desent onto the surface? These transmissions were eaves-dropped on by amateur enthusiasts around the globe with their instruments pointed at the moon. Thats pretty much impossible to fake...

Spoken like someone who knows nothing of what they talk. Space exploration has so many applications, and the knowledge we have gained has given the world so much. The media are unable to report on the merits of such missions - any coverage is usually dumbed down for the public to digest. On the other hand - maybe my past 4 years studying for a degree in Physics with Space science is a joke :rolleyes:

I was just going to type that. If the USA hadn't done it the USSR would have told us they hadn't done it.
