Wasteland ARMA II Mos : Server Details

Well with the whitelist the server is still open to all really as it only takes a few minutes to get whitelist verified. It stops 99% of script kiddies, only fresh GUID's that haven't been caught by battle eye can get in. I can see how it would deter people though as people can be lazy to bother doing it.

Was on a Takistan server last night when all of a sudden the whole server was switched to pitch darkness... Was AMAZING!

Bought me some NVG's, started driving around when i saw flickering lights up ahead... desides to sneak up to area of interest. It was industrial area which was being converted into an indi base, few had torches out. So continued to sneak around the back with my SD G36. I thought it best i ly around observing movements and numbers. After a short while they settled down, lined up two guys keeping watch....ping ping... 2 down. From there i took cover while i carefully watched them frantically running around. Saw someone take cover near an ammo catch... Ping, Dead. 3 guys left. Noticed two guys had run into an industry building, threw a smoke grenade into building where they were hiding, i saw them run out the back ping ping, 2 down....

One guy with a torch left. He'd made out where i was, saw him sneaking to me. Jumpin in the back of a vodnik, he walked past the car at which point i jumped out and quietly took him out.... Goon 1 indi group 0. Made swiftly off with their catches.

Great game, tho i'm getting a little bored at times.

Hey guys, not sure if you guys remember me from DayZ, same name as forum, been away from DayZ/Arma2 in general for a while and jumping back into the mix, Surprised to see Marker moved away from DayZ but also happy your still about and by all accounts doing a good job - will look into getting Wasteland installed (yet more downloading and installing stuff) Are the links in the OP upto date and everything there i need (i figure they are just confirming)

I think its me but im confused on what files i need and where (yup call me blonde and dumb or blame the time lol)

Edited - Ha im an idiot, it aint a mod is it lol oh, these late nights are going to kill me eventually.

Correct. You don't need anything else installed. Just launch as Combined Ops and you are good to go.

The links on the first post should work, they are for sound/visual mods that we allow on the server, and to be honest you are doing ArmA an injustice if you don't use them!

All of the guys who played DayZ have moved on from it now I believe, we either play on our Wasteland server or play "vanilla" ArmA.

What is vanilla arma all about, seen you lot in teamspeak playing it last night.

Well been on the 001 server for a little bit, and well cars everywhere, guns galore and a lot of confusion on my part - looks like dayz, sounds like dayz, yet it aint dayz lol kinda lost as to what to do, tried following some bluefor guys but they didnt seem too interested, went on the hunt found a mission objective i think, downed helicopter with a few bad guys camping it, went up popped him, then all hell broke loose, tracers from every direction :( Harsh is not the word.

Still getting the old issue of FPS again dont understand why as ive upgraded my system since the last time i ran arma2, although its running with no tweaks to the configs or run commands.

Did you not come and play Insurgency with us last night?

I've lost count of the times that people coming from DayZ then playing this get so excited about finding a car with a weapon in. Like you say, they are literally everywhere.

It's basically BluFor vs Opfor. Both teams will normally build 1 main base which they can launch their attacks from. Independents can kill whoever they like.

Post your graphic settings and I will take a look at them. ArmA is a funny beast when it comes to configuring it.

@Robinhood - I'm sure I saw you connect on to Server 2 last night?! You should come try it, it's one of the best missions for ArmA.

Texture-Video memory-AF-AA set to normal -- ATOC disabled
Terrain-Objects-Shadow-HDR set to normal -- PPAA disabled
Post process effects very low -- Vsync on res 1680x1050.
Specs i5 3750k, 8gb ram, 6850 ati latest drivers overclocked.
Pretty much all on the default setting, as ive forgot most of the useful tweaks.

Im enjoying it, its hectic as hell though.

It's great when you play with people who are also in teamspeak. Most people will be online after the restart which is in like 1 hours time.

These are my settings. Never drops below 40fps on Wasteland (which you will always get a lower fps on compared to other mods/missions).

My ATOC is on All Trees + Grass. Disable Post Processing completely. I never understood why people use it.

Also make sure you change your FOV - As you are running at 1680 x 1050, in your *profilename.ArmA2OAProfile.txt you need to edit the FOV. Use these settings:

Code:
fovTop=1.13;
fovLeft=1.8;

Rgr ill give that a bash, was having epic fun flanking opfor and indies attacking the bluefor base then the server restart spoiled it :(

Edit - Perfect settings there Xcept, going to have much more fun with smooth crisp looking textures and what not.

Rebooted, Server 1 running updated version of Wasteland. Server 2 running Insurgency and whatever other missions we fancy.

You should change your video memory to default, it allows more than 512mb VRAM to be used. (Assuming you dont have an ancient GPU :)) Otherwise it caps at 512mb even on very high, even less on high.

It is really hard to configure ARMA II properly, becouse sometimes you get higher fps using higher settings. If you put your settings too low, it starts to move things to calculate from GPU to CPU and your GPU usage will drop usually resulting lower fps.

Beta patch changed the video memory settings I believe.

No problem. Although I have set my video memory to very high now, forgot it defaults to high for when you select the "Very High" for everything. Got about an extra 5/10 fps out of it.
