Watch Dogs - Ubisoft's Third Person Shooter

Has anyone here got the season pass? I sold watchdogs when I completed it (PS4) I regret not buying the season pass is the new DLC worth it?

Thought I would try this on my X99 rig with crossfired 295x2 and 290x to see if it made any different to performance.

And it doesn't really...Using MSI Afterburner you can see GPU loads all over the place, often nowhere near 100%

Weirdest thing is that I was playing at 3840x2160 and it reported my RAM usage at 11300mb! What the hell? Does it have a memory leak or something?

Can't even use Ultra textures or Anti-aliasing as that puts V-ram usage over 4GB. Performance is averaging mid 50's but it feels choppy all over the place.

Sorry for the old thread resurrection. I tried to play this on my rig last night for the 1st time in six months and its still not fixed. It crashed twice after running out of memory and I decided to give up. This was after playing for only 15 minutes.

I think I'm one of the only people to have completed the game and actually enjoyed it.

Lacked a bit of depth, the main character was dull and it didn't run smoothly at all.

Apart from that I enjoyed playing it, definitely worth the £3 or so I paid for it.

I have to agree, I found it very... forgettable. It wasn't a bad game, it just had very generic gameplay, graphics, characters, storyline, in fact, pretty much everything :p

I enjoyed the game (love the hacking tool and doing blackouts etc.) and once you installed the custom mods (read: enabled the graphics not shown in the option menu :p), the game looked great but it runs so bad on my 290 yet on my 7850, it was pretty smooth, go figure.....

Played it a year ago.

Can't sum up the story for you.
Can't remember the names of any characters apart from the main one.
Can't describe any of the missions.

Instantly forgettable, totally average game in every way. The main story was so badly written and structured. It took itself far too seriously.

If somebody could complete this sentence honestly I would be impressed - "I loved the bit where...."

I quite enjoyed it for a while, theres still an active modding community on the Guru3D forums.

With some graphics mods the game does look very good, to get the best out of it you need a decent rig as it canes your GPU/CPU. One mod I liked (I dont recall its name but its on their forum) was the bad weather mod which really changed the atmosphere of the game for me. In a game thats all about hacking and being a shadowy, sneaky character, the bright sunny days in Chicago didnt fit with me. The mod basically makes it rain a lot with lots of cloud and storms, only occassionly does the sun come out.

I also hardly ever drove a car unless the mission forced me to, the driving ingame is poo so I always walked/jogged/ran everywhere or got the train :)

The game does take itself very seriously but if you take the time to play it and actually behave or play the game like a sneaky hacker it can be quite fun.

I havent played it in a long time but I may return to it one day maybe.

With the E3 PURE mod installed, the game looks stunning - particularly in the gloomy weather/rain. The main protagonist with the the flapping chocolate brown coat and a cap is super cool, Kojima would have been proud. Although he was cooler still in the famous E3 2012 demo (different face, different animation, much more violent takedowns). Asian sidekick is cool and very well acted too.

Gunplay mechanics are better than GTA5's imho, driving is equally bad but in GTA you can at least shoot from the car - not here (bad guys can though:)).

Missions have decent story development - some interesting setups like the "human auction" or "Bedbug" missions, but the actual missions are quite generic. Good gunplay, hacking, great graphics and fallible AI make them fun though, I did not expect it , but I will definitely complete the game now :)

On balance - hugely disappointing game because it was an easy step away from an all time classic quality, a step that it (infuriatingly!) did not make. Poor mission design and graphics cuts to get PC in-line with consoles have made it a very disappointingly "merely" good game with some truly inspired strokes.

I might try it again with the pure mod, there was quite a lot bad said about it but I really enjoyed it. IMO in a large number of places/ways the graphics are better than GTA5.

Ran awesome on my 290 :P

Actually my memory is hazy by the looks of it:

Upgraded to a 290 from 7970, every game's FPS increased by a nice margin except watchdogs, if anything performance seemed worse!

Now I see what everyone is so upset about.

lol

Ran awesome on the 7970

It was an okay game. I loved the bit where you deactivate the old bunker and thought it would get better from there on out, it didn't. It could have been so much more.

Great idea but the execution missed massively.

May interest some that liked the game but:

Watchdogs reduced on the Uplay store, digital and physical editions.

The 'collectors' Dedsec edition with all the extras is available for ~£30 depending on format (reduced from ~£100 depending on format)

PC Dedsec version in stock for £31.35 with free UK shipping. PS4, XB1 also available. Oddly the Xbox 360 version is still 100 quid!

With some mods, its not a bad game despite its poor reception at release.

*** Plus you get a The Division Beta Key ***
