Watch Dogs

You realise resolution is purely a number that "gamers" feel quantify the graphics?

Ie source engine half life 2 at 1080p won't look as nice as crysis at 900p, add in some nice smoothing effects and job done.

However yes if you want the best pay way more for a high powered pc and enjoy.

Native 1080P resolution on a native 1080P display will look much sharper however, just trying running your monitor at lower than native resolution to see how things become less defined.

This is the first generation we have ever had where people are more concerned with the resolution than anything else. I didn't get an N64 with Goldeneye 'cos it was 320×272.

This is because lots of people have native 1080P TV's and want to get the best out of them, when the previous generation were released (well XB360 anyway) High Definition was just starting to take off so people were more than happy with any HD'ish resolution. Back in the CRT days a decent television and RGB SCART cable was generally more important than resolution.

I don't think the difference between 1080p and 720p is that noticeable on a big TV my LG looks the same to me when sat on the couch. On a monitor it is as you generally sit a lot closer.

I would rather it was 720p but with 60fps as I find 30fps horrid.

That's not the same. Most monitors are terrible at scaling whereas most TV's have good to excellent scaling. Also viewing distances are a lot lower with a monitor so it'll be more noticeable in comparison to the average viewing distance of a TV.

The PS3 used to get panned for having the odd few less lines of res and 1-2 fps less.

Constantly.

I heard good things about the GT50 but can't seem to find one in 55". Not sure if it's out?
Half the sites don't even load at work so could just be that. Looking fora 55 or 60" TV in the next couple of weeks. Bought a 47" LED (which looks stunning) in December but it's too small

It went EOL over a year ago stock ran out about a year ago

someone posted PC vs PS4 footage in here, it was a youtube vid.

I don't really get what the video was trying to prove because at times the PS4 looked awful in comparison but in others it looked substantially better than the PC version.

anyone clear this up?

iirc Tomb Raider on the PS4 looked better than the PC version when released because it had all sorts of nice effects added which improved the visuals.

Even though this game has been in development for years, etc, etc it's still not a PS4 exclusive designed solely for the PS4 from the ground up and nothing else, therefore it won't be using anywhere near 100% of the power of the PS4. It will be running inefficiently.

Once you get a game of this calibre designed from the ground up for the PS4 only then you will be able to see the true power of the PS4.

Much like the Last of Us showed off the true power of the PS3, same goes for anything made by Naughty Dog, etc.

Some developers are a lot better at coding than others, take EA for example if they were in charge of watch dogs it would be 480i and running at 10fps.

Whilst this is a fantastic debate about resolution I'm a bit bored of it in the Watch Dogs thread.

Some people have no real interest in games i think, a new game is just something you judge rather than enjoy or anticipate enjoying, hence the mindless repetitive stream of inane comments about irrelevant tech details. Lets face it not full 1080p at 30fps could kill some people.

I wonder if an SSD would improve performance/graphics of games like this which really push the limits of the console. I think it has been mentioned SSD's help prevent pop ups and help textures load fully faster.

I'd get it on a console, god knows how it will perform on a PC. This is Ubisoft.

Must admit , ac 3 ran like dog poo on pc to be honest. had to laugh at alienware and their pop at these gen consoles saying buy on pc and play at 1080 or higher at 60 fps.

I've got one of their alienware laptops, m17xr4 with at the time a top end 7980m gpu, and ac 3 from ubi soft ran like dog poo on that laptop...

but upon saying this, I think pc will better both consoles on medium to high end pc rigs. wait and see I guess...
