Watch Dogs

Played a good few hrs of this yesterday, initially I was annoyed by the driving in this game, GTAV did it waaay better, but I forgot that the cars can be upgraded, handling a etc, as you progress, but there is soooooooooo much to do its mind boggling.

I’m only now getting to grips of what you can do and I kept forgetting I had the focus ability which is brilliant, combine that with the hacking and there so so many different ways to approach any situation. (doing this in vigilante, being the all-round good guy, which is great fun, the Batman of Chicago lol)

The hacking is nearly too much fun lol, hacking a CTOS base getting the server online without even stepping foot in the place.

I have not tried the online yet as PSN was down for maintenance, but once it was up I could not connect to any one I was told with messages that one was available but after selecting it, it just tried to load in the top right then nothing??

Any one else have this issue?

If the online is good (especially the 8 player free Roam) this could be my new GTA.
I will most def be playing this for a looooong time, can’t see me getting bored of this for the next few months

Glad I went for the ps4 version over the pc, that digital foundry article mentions AMD cards, even a 290x struggles to remove the stutter..

My days as a pc gamer are slowly coming to an end thanks to the ps4. I spent hours on this game last night, loving everything about it..

haven't seen any screen tear either yet df says its there for both ps4 and x1, x1 suffering the most but I see tearing easily but to my eyes the game as been rock solid performance...

Yeah I'd be annoyed if going for the PC version with an expensive rig.

I was in two minds at first and thought if i buy it on pc then i would probably end up upgrading some parts anyway and then i saw the reviews and a few hd videos on pc(ultra) and ps4. The difference is definitely there but not enough for me to warrant a change in pc hardware ( i mean it is just one game). So i finished work yesterday at 5, went all the way to Oxford Circus, got it £50 from hmv :D.

I must say that day time looks really terrible considering this is suppose to be a next gen game ( gta5 looks better on ps3) and the driving i found to be really awful. One of the police chases was made difficult not because they are persistent but the car is very difficult to control at high speed braking. Also a lot of poor hit detection/clipping through walls. I am certain i hit a truck full on and went through it without even slowing down. I remember vividly from one of the pre-launch trailers someone mentioning that each car will have unique physics/handling, i am sorry but a sports car should not feel like a 18 wheeler when turning. May be patches will fix these issues.

Uplay was also a problem, server kept dropping connection. Not sure whether it was my connection or too many people were online.

All in all, given the fact this game has been in development for ages and all the hype that went into advertising it, i am still looking hard to see where "the next gen" bit is in the game. I know this is early days and a lot of people will disagree but i really wanted this game to be the new standard in open world gaming.

The main story for me lacks a gripping plot and the side missions seem like a late addition to the game.

My initial review would be around 7/10. I will keep on playing hoping that i will grow to like it more. Just my own take on all this :)

Stop thinking of it as a "next gen" game, it's not. It's a cross gen game, it shows, the game is a hell of a lot of fun.

Watch_Dogs II should be amazing.

I'm really liking this a lot so far. I finally got a chance to hack, and be hacked, by another player, and it was pretty fun.

I got one guy up to 72%, I was just hiding in a car. Then eventually he found me but I got away.

When you're hacking someone, do you have to stay a certain distance from them?

It shows you a circle on the map that you can't leave, they have to then find you in that circle. They can just ignore you can go somewhere else but you still hack them no matter how far they go.

You get 60 seconds after you hack them to start the game of hide and seek, its a good idea to take all of those 60 seconds to see if they go away from the area as you will get a decent amount of extra % if they have to drive all the way back to you and it gives you more time to hide.

Ah ok, so when the hack starts you can stay in the area, and if they leave it then that's their problem?

What do you mean about the 60 seconds? Should I not be starting the download thing as soon as it's available?

Yeah I'd be annoyed if going for the PC version with an expensive rig.

Likely due to the support for the last gen of consoles. Going forward with next gen only titles poor PC versions should be minimal. I think AMD are already working on a patch as well. I bought it on PS4 for the reason that I have a free weekend and I hear the performance is terrible on PC. I don't have time to fiddles around with settings these days. Although I spent £1600 on a rig 4 years ago and apart from one GPU upgrade it's still going strong :)

Got this game arriving tomorrow. Really excited for it!

Weekend off, Wolfenstein and this to get stuck into :D

It's up to you how long you wait, but the game of cat and mouse becomes more dangerous the longer you wait as they will be aware of you.

The area is showing you where to search, they won't be out of that perimeter, it also gets smaller as they get closer to 100%.

Yeah pretty much.

When you get in the game you have to get close to them and hack them but after that it tells you to press down on the dpad(I think) to start it. It gives you 60 seconds to do that, they still don't know you are in their game until you activate it so you can take that time to find a better hiding place since they won't be looking for you much or they might just drive away from the area :p

Ahhhh, I get it now. I didn't realise that they didn't know I was in the game until I press the d-pad, so I was just pressing it straight away.

I've not tried the tailing missions yet, but they sound fun. Apparently the other player has no clue you're in the game, and if you succeed in tailing them, and you leave the game, they will never know they've just been tailed. I love it!

For those playing, how often are the online encounters with other players in the SP game, or is it completely random?

Say I'm not going out of my way to hack anyone else, but have online enabled, how often can I expect to be "invaded"?

I've played the first few hours of this on PS4 and it's brilliant. It looks every bit as good as the PC version and runs at a very smooth framerate.

It's much better than I thought it would be, at times the graphics really are superb.

Watched a friend play it on Twitch last night so downloaded it over night on my PlayStation 4.

First impressions, it's a spectacularly average game. It looks good, although I do not think it looks as good as Infamous Second Son, nor is the world as detailed or immersive as either Grand Theft Auto IV / V.

Game play is pretty solid, hacking is quite boring but sneaking around is good fun although I've been adopting a sneak and shoot tactic.

Driving is absolutely terrible the talent tree's are quite good.

I like the game, I do not particularly think it is anything special, but it is a very solid game :). I think it suffered from the E3 hype wagon. While I totally understand marketing and the need to create hype for such a 'big' release, I think less is more would have helped manage expectations better.

I initially liked this but after a few hours the cracks appear. The game has some bad flaws. It's nowhere near the level of polish as GTAV. There are lots of little annoying things that bug me mainly to do with the Physx engine and NPC Ai.

It's still a good game but I'm finding certain things quite annoying.
