Ok things now make sense with what your saying and thats because the room ambient temp is 17 degrees. Ive been at work all day but heating been on because my son is home all day so room has been a constant all day. Got home and put thermometer in room next to pc for 15 minutes and closed door. Temp was 17

Booted and got pic of bios

Got
next load up screen and temps were about -3 out

I let the system settle and the temps were then about the same.

At least this shows the cooler is very efficient and is almost if not cooling to ambient temp at no load
Its amazing what you learn and i must also be saving a fortune on gas with a ambient temp this low lol. I tell the wife to put a jumper on if she is cold in the house

I'm being pedantic now but if your room temp is 17 then you're definitely definitely 100% getting incorrect reading, especially considering the amount of heat the rest of your components will be generating, those kits aren't anywhere near the top end so I'd guess with 17 degrees ambient and a settled idle temp (ie running for a while) you should be in the mid to high 20s.

Anyway.. I'll contribute a pic of mine :)

You have proven to me the science of water cooling and for that i thank you but come on now mate and accept the evidence, a thermometer of room temp, a bios shot and 2 software programs all saying the same thing and you still cannot accept the unit cools to ambient temp or as near to it as possible.?
On this review there is a 1.3 degree difference between ambient and CPU temp at idle thus proving the unit works even if you think its at the bottom end of cooling. BTW i dont work for thermaltake you know, i just happen to own one of these units and i never thought posting on this thread was ever going to be so much trouble.

Ive learnt a hell of a lot in the past day about cooling so thanks for that but i am now throwing in the towel on this issue;)

ok mate like I said, not looking to fight :) you do really want to ignore the temps your BIOS says though, I remember loads of boards report that stupidly wrong but I had no idea you could get quite that close to the ambient.

Makes me fancy trying a thermometer myself, I'm idling at 30 at the moment but I do need the house toasty :)

@Schizo: Yep, a 3mm Led. It´s a Watercool Heatkiller with special plexy top. There was a group buy in forumdeluxx.de last year, the top is limited ~ 20 pieces, when i remember it right :)

So there quite hard to get hold of then :)

Would love one for my new build, will fit in just right with my mountain mods case.

Sometimes, there is such a waterblock offered in the flea market in forumdeluxx or overclockingstation.de for about 40-50 euro, but when...it often takes only some hours after it´s sold :)

Maybe the EK Supreme LTX Nickel/Plexy is an alternative block for you ?

Thanks for your help bundy.

That will be my new block for my build, didn't know they did CPU blocks with LEDs :)

That will go lovely with my theme.
