Webber to leave F1 for return to Le Mans with Porsche

Can't say I'm not disappointed, but it's totally understandable. Hopefully he will have a great run with Porsche.

I would think it'll be Raikkonen who takes his spot, which would be a real shame for Lotus, they will really struggle to replace Kimi I think.

Posted it in the silverstone thread as someone posted about that there, but this is my thoughts...

Hmmm, not sure how having Kimi and Seb in the same team is going to fly?

PDR has been told by FI that he is allowed to move to another team if he wants, so I see him going to McLaren. Perez will stay at McLaren as they will be bringing in the Mexico Telecoms giant (Telmex) for sponsorship next year, so that leaves button as a floater. My guess is that he is a "Number 2" driver now, and the RBR would probably suit him very well as it is a stable car that smooth drivers will get on well with, so Button to take his seat?

lol, probably won't happen like that though.

Button would be an interesting one for RB I think. Don't think Seb would want Kimi there in an even more competitive car!

Shame that hes decided to leave F1, i liked him but felt that Vettel and Horner didnt treat him very well over the past few seasons.

Would love to see Kimi there then promptly put that arrogant **** in his place:p

Wish him all the best in his next endeavour ie Le Mans.

I find it odd that bookies putting JEV well ahead of Ricciardo.

Didn't Markko recently give an interview where he said JEV was winning the competition to be the next Vettel?

edit:

Knowing that this year could be crucial to his chances of landing a top-line seat in F1, Ricciardo's concern may be well-founded in light of recent comments from Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko, who appeared enthused by Vergne's recent run.

“Jean-Eric impressed with his performance in Monaco and, in Montreal, he was even better,” Marko noted in an interview with RMC after the Frenchman racked up Toro Rosso's best finish since Vettel won at Monza in 2009,

“It was not just a good race, he was very quick all weekend. In qualifying, he made no mistakes in the rain and, during the race, I saw him fight with talented drivers. This is only his second year in F1 and, for the second year, it's really impressive. While we are looking for drivers who can win grands prix, for the moment, he is on the right track.”

Kind of feel bad for Lewis. He wanted the Redbull seat didn't he but Webber stayed for another year. So counting him out I really hope Kimi gets this seat.

Although its F1 and I wouldn't count the people like Bottas and Riccardo out.

Kimi is logical choice if sv can cope

Shame, I can see lotus going further and further back from this point on :-\

As Horner commented in the linked report, RedBull are in the fortunate position that they will have drivers lining up for the seat and they can take their pick.

I personally think that RedBull are more likely to go for a "young gun" driver such as JEV or Ricciardo than an older and more experienced driver like Kimi or JB.
