Good game (for a Man Utd fan anyway), Newcastle improved as soon as Bowyer was brought on but the team didn't play well enough to score. Rooney was on fire today, fantastic goals and he deserved a hat trick. O'Shea I thought played well, getting back and clearing balls out of the box and his passing was a lot sharper and instant.
I want to thank Ferguson again for not starting RVN, Saha had an absolute stormer of a game, he should have scored 10.
RVN now looks a bit rusty, to be expected really, when you drop an 'in form' striker to the bench for no solid reason. I can possibly understand the reason why Ferguson played Saha in the Carling Cup final because he had played a bigger role in their success than Van Nistelrooy (if that was indeed the main reason), fair enough. But who has contributed more to our Premiership campaign this season and is the Premiership's top goalscorer? Surely by Fergusons own reasoning, RVN should be starting every Premiership game.
I'll say it again fellas, I think RVN is on his way out. And it's no coincidence that he's the only player in the first team to whole heartedly agree publicly with everything Keane said after Keane was shown the door. Ferguson's relationship with him has been going downhill since he flogged Beckham off to Madrid, yet another example of what happens when Ferguson falls out with one of his players. RVN shortly after Beckhams departure said that we missed him and was promptly dropped by Ferguson the following game.
Dropping one of our most important players (and most prolific goalscorer
ever in our history) is the first sign of an imminent departure. It happened to Cole, Beckham, Yorke. And bringing him on to replace Ronaldo was madness, taking a midfielder out of the game to accomodate a threesome up front. Saha should have been taken off instead. As soon as RVN came on, Newcastle's possession went up a little because of our 3 man midfield. I'm sick to death of Ferguson, I really am. He got rid of Beckham because he thought he was bigger than the club, but there's only been one man all along who thinks he is bigger than the club and that's Ferguson.
Rumours of bust ups, shouting matches and arguments in training all point to a very strained relationship between Ferguson and RVN. Being relegated to the bench won't help a lot either. There's only one outcome in situations like this. And it involves the fans saying goodbye to yet another player who gave Utd his all.
