Weekend Football **SPOILERS** 14-16 March

Liverpool beat Madrid 4-0 = Liverpool are average, it was all Madrids fault.

Liverpool beat Utd 4-1 = Liverpool werent good enough to score those goals, was all united mistakes.

Some people on here need to stop taking the mick and just admit that Liverpool put in a good performance, better than united and deserved the win.

Did you watch the match though? All the goals were defensive mistakes! (Although the freekick was superb and Dossena's finish was very nice despite the mistake)

Neither team played particularly well today (although there were some good individual performances, Park and Torres stood out)

They were better than United. But i can't remember any great passage of play or football that they had. All the goals were from Unacceptable defensive errors.

Maybe so but those mistakes were because of the pressure we put you under. Our back 4 dealt with everything you came up with, Masch and Lucas were all over Carrick and Anderson, and Vidic and Ferdinand simply couldn't handle Gerrard and Torres.

Yeah I watched the entire match and whether the goals were due to mistakes or not, Liverpool took their chances and united didnt.
Both teams were giving the ball away a good amount but at the end of the day Liverpool were the beater team and it just annoys me how some people on here seem to think its always the other teams fault whenever Liverpool win a game. Ridiculous.

Edit: Having said that, for all the praise Torres and Gerrard will get I actually thought Hyypia was our MOTM. Still life in the old dog yet.

Absolute ****ing legend. I thought in Houllier's last season he was on his way out but Rafa got him back to his best straight away and since then he's never let us down. With his age and his legs going he's occasionally going to get found out but he's still a top CB and a top guy too; just the other week a radio station was raising money for a local hospital and could only raise half the money needed, when big Sami found out he phoned straight up and donated all the money they needed.

To be fair it normally is. Liverpool really are the kings of inconsistency. Also I don't think i've seen them win a game this season against opposition that play well - they're easy to beat if only the other team will put the work in.

Which United didn't come close to doing.

If you mean 'we' as in Man Utd then I agree. Wholeheartedly in fact. :p Should be a good game on Saturday, didn't realise it's the early kickoff. :) Torres needs the rest to be fair, I hope he brings a pillow this time, I'm sure Ferdinand doesn't keep any in his pocket. ;)

:D

Hardly rare to see Manu lose to a top 4 club and still walk away with the title.

According to sky, vidic was just a straight red, rather than a yellow + straight red (that would have been a longer than 3 match ban iirc)

Also, does this mean Boro will beat Man U 6 - 1 ? ;)

yeah they are very inconsistent, downfall of the season as usual. But it has to be more than coincidence that when Liverpool beaten a top european side the opposition has played badly. Have to give credit to Liverpool for forcing the errors, hustling players and working hard all around the pitch.

If Liverpool didnt play the way they did today and last week then they most likely would have been playing against a good madrid and united team(in the eyes of others), if a scrappy 1-0 result had come of it there probably would have been more praise than what they have had from the past 2 results.

How can it be a yellow and a 'straight' red?

A 'straight' red bypasses the need for a first or second yellow card entirely, surely?
