Weekend Football **SPOILERS** 14-16 March

Think it's another clear indication of who the best central defender in the world is. Ferdinand plays bad and Vidic usually makes up for his mistakes, Vidic has a shocker and Ferdinand looks lost.

there are no "great" central defenders. there are good defenders and great central defensive partnerships. Gallas/Terry was incredibly good while Terry hasn't looked as good with other players, Gallas Toure is actually pretty freaking solid. In general the best pairs seem to have a "step up" kind of centre back and a "mop up the errors" type rather than two similar players. When one plays badly the other ones poorer area's become obvious.

Again I still don't think Liverpool were great, for all the ball Anderson and Carrick gave away they didn't dominate the play, they didn't create many/any real chances of their own, the errors weren't really forced either. THe first goal Vidic had a chance to header it without Torres pressuring him and fluffed it, he then really should have easily cleared it but fluffed that. I don't think Torres or Gerrard played out of their skin because again except the 3 key times they did nothing useful. They were in the right place when Vidic made mistakes but lets not blow that all out of proportion and say it was their best ever performances, they weren't close.

Park wasn't that bad, Rooney was obviously playing quite well but no one around him was doing anything. I would have taken Anderson off way earlier as he made mistake after mistake. Rooney got no service upfront and Ronaldo was double man marked if not triple all game and yet everyone just stranded him on his own expecting him to "do" his man. Repeatedly if he got the ball Tevez, Rooney, Carrick would move into the box and give him no support. O'shea/Evra didn't run the overlap with him to create space and for me he was completely and utterly isolated by his own team in a game Liverpool put extra men on him.

Tevez ran a lot but no where useful, he did nothing smart or inteligent and his few chances were fluffed. Tevez, Anderson and Vidic off at half time would have seen a very different result. It was so clear Vidic wasn't on it and at that point changing it would have been the best way forwards.

VDS had a shocking game aswell, for Torres's goal he just stood complete still from the second Torres got it quite a bit further out than he shot from, he could have closed him down to at least make him choose and maybe pressure him, but he just stood utterly still. LIkewise the freekick was great placement but not very hard at all, the way VDS reacted was he thought it was wide gave up then realised he screwed up completely, it looked saveable. Even for Dossena's goal he was in no man's land and really for no reason.

How can it be a yellow and a 'straight' red?

A 'straight' red bypasses the need for a first or second yellow card entirely, surely?

I think that the ref has to award cards dependant on the situation, not on what they have already awarded.

I.E. A yellow carded player is the last man and hacks down an striker through on goal.

Red would be awarded rather than the second yellow.

Still wouldn't warrant a longer ban unless decided as so by the F.A. if they feel it was especially dangerous.

I thought he was talking absolute rubbish but Id rather watch the Arsenal game than reply to a load of dribble :)

You say Rooney played quite well but then Torres didnt except 3 things, and the goal was down to VDS standing still? ok!

Rooney was rather isolated with no one around him giving him throughballs or really doing anything but for 90 minutes he won the ball, tackled, pushed forwards, crossed the ball, passed it, made chances for others and he was good throughout. Torres got gifted the ball and finished a 1 on 1 well, which a large portion of strikers would have finished, he did nothing the other 89 minutes except a few fouls and a few dives, he didn't have other chances, didn't create, didn't win the ball, he didn't do much of anything.

Maybe I'm one of the few but I say a player played well when he does well for his team for the whole game, or a large part of it, someone who scores but does nothing else at all doesn't do it for me. I didn't say he was poor, just not the best ever performance that Gray and some others seem convinced of. What did he do except the goal? Was it the really early running directly into Ferdinand and asking for a free kick, despite the fact after kicking the ball off the pitch he ran a further 3 yards into a perfectly still Ferdy who wasn't directly infront of him. Frankly it was a foul by Torres's, thats about all he did all game.

Actually he edited that bit in.

Eboue is the single best player in the world who ever has been, or will be.

Just for you, so you can disagree, and stop the apocalypse.

I don't really have an opinion on Arsenal except that your strikers make Liverpool's look consistent, your midfield never play to their potential and that you've massively underachieved this season. Wenger needs to spend this summer.

I wouldn't be able to pick Eboue out of a lineup, no clue what he looks like or where he plays. :p

It's just the format of your posts that bothers me - they take "wall of text" form and are hard to read.
