Weekend Football *Spoilers* inc Carling Cup Final 28/2 - 1/3

United won the game, with this worst performance of all time from Gibson.

I don't think he was that bad, and If you're using the "he's young" defense for Welbeck it can be used for Gibson. Gibson is 21, Welbeck is almost 18. only a couple of years. Yes a few years is a long time in football and the development.

The only think I noticed about the commentators on Sky, was Andy Gray failing to mention Spurs doing anything positive, and that his complete biased towards Manchester United, even when Ronaldo dived for a penalty.

No, Gibson miss placed a few passes, and looked very tired towards the end of the game and he slowed down. Gibson started well, having a good shot. It wasn't Gibson's fault that Manchester United were not at their normal flowing passing footballing best.

Very few of the United team where playing well - it wasnt just Gibson playing badly.

I also dont think that Gibson will take opportunities away from Anderson, they should be competing for different games. Anderson may be a CC guy this season (mainly due to Olympics and injury I think) but next season he should be really in the 1st team squad all the time for FA Cup, EPL .CL games

Ok with Carrick, Hargreaves (hopefully) Scholes, Giggs, Fletcher to compete with he isnt a gauranteed starter for a hundred + potential senior starts (ie two per game) in central midfield - he should be able to get 20 - 30 starts, plus 1/2 that again with subs or CC games. Thats a pretty decent season.

Park could be competing for those spots also - but he seems to be being pushed much wider this season , even though he first started at Utd in the middle of the park.

If Anderson plays well enough (and there is no reason why he shouldnt) he will easily get the chances he needs next season. Without long term injuries, or OH needing to be replaced due to knee problem, I hope not, SAF wont want to strengthen the midfield places, so he wont have to compete with a new signing.

Gibson was far from the worse player on the pitch. Welbeck didn't play that well either but Tevez was no better and he's supposed to be worth 25m.

Couldnt have said it better myself .......well in fact I didnt hahaha

You're just being stupid now. I never said of all time. I did say he was one of the worst of the match.

Is 21 really *that* young these days? Messi, Fabregas, Ronaldo, Anderson, Benzema, Aguero are all players that have set the world alight with great performances before the age of 21, all of them playing regularly for their national sides.

The only think I noticed about the commentators on Sky, was Andy Gray failing to mention Spurs doing anything positive, and that his complete biased towards Manchester United, even when Ronaldo dived for a penalty.
Ridiculous. For a start, he was positive about Spurs and he doesn't like Man Utd at all. This is the guy who said "Good luck boys" before Chelsea took their penalties in the CL final and seldom had any positives to give United yesterday.

As for Ronaldo diving for a penalty, I questioned your eye sight in you saying Gibson was average, now I know you're blind.

Mis-placed almost all his passes. He hit his shot hard, but it didn't even work the keeper, since when has a shot that's gone high, wide and handsome been a good one? Gibson limited the speed, movement and flow of every move through the middle, the result of which was Spurs getting a real hold in the game.
Everyone bar you has stated how poor he was, be it fans, forum users, commentators, pundits or media.

Tevez's touch may have deserted him, but he did running for 2 with Welbeck and had no support from Midfield with Gibson and Scholes not having the pace to get forward. His work-rate was second to none though and he slid home a great penalty. Job done.

You could also argue that those are extremely talented players, and the majority of average players in the world, 21 is still young. Judging 21 by a handful of world class players isn't really a good comparison. Fabregas is the only Midfielder.

No, Andy Gray is hugely biased towards the "big four" in the Premier League, He has biased in those four as well, but there can be no question of him being in favor of United in the Final, many many many people had made this remark.

As for Ronaldo diving for a penalty, I questioned your eye sight in you saying Gibson was average, now I know you're blind.

No, watch the clip again, Ronaldo is on his way down, then he hits the foot of a defender.

You really don't like Gibson, he didn't have a good game, but by no means was he as bad as you're making him out to be. He was very average, he miss placed passes, but so did the other 21 players on the pitch, he probably made as many mistakes as the other players, bar a few.

No, go read redcafe ;) the unofficial Manchester United Forums, Gibson did okay.

Carlos Tevez was awful, not quite Welbeck awful. I thought he had a poor game. Took his penalty well, but what do you expect from the spot.

Now I don't know about you, but I don't want to pay 25 m for a Striker who is going to play in the middle of the park, Tevez was coming deeper and deeper and being drawn into play because as a team we were not giving him the service he needed.

Oh btw Nokkon. I don't mean to keep digging at you personally but I noticed you don't have your location under your avatar anymore. Surely this isn't to do with the whole glory hunting thing is it lol.

Again, It's nothing personal.

I don't think Gibson deserves the abuse, he wasn't the worst on the pitch. The entire team was pretty poor, Nobody really played well. Nani was poor, Evans and Rio were fairly good, Evra looked a bit off color, Gibson and Scholes played as well in midfield as the spurs midfield played. Tevez was having too work to hard and as a result became very ineffective, Welbeck... was well off the pace same for O'shea. Ronaldo looked fairly average, not his best game. Foster was good. Solid. United Won, so who cares.

The only spurs player that gave a half decent performance was Lennon, I thought the other 10 were as bad as United.

When are you going to stop trolling your crap?

The supposed point you are repeatedly levelling has been covered in this thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=13503039
If you must keep raising it do it in there and stop fouling other threads with it.

Redcafe is full of *****. Gibson was awful and its just proved he isn't cut out for United.

redcafe, is always being quoted as a Manchester United, fan forum :)

Calling them ***** isn't very nice. The actually football forums are alright to browse through.

Gibson was no worse then the rest, Well done with jumping on the bandwagon :)

I don't doubt it is a Manchester United fan forum. But the bad, immature, stupid posters far outweigh any decent ones. Liverpool fans will say the same about RAWK. I read it when I'm bored, or to check lineups before games, but I don't think i'd ever be able to have any sort of interesting discussion on there, not compared to here anyway.

And I havn't jumped on any bandwagon, I have my own opinions regarding players. Feel free to look at my Gibson comments leading up to this match and previous matches and you'll see i'm one of many who simply doesn't rate him. He'd probably flourish at another premiership team, but he's simply not United quality.

I have 100 odd posts on Redcafe, I had to leave because I was banned 4 times in a week once :/

Utter children most of them

Red Cafe is like the majority of football forums on the internet, they're no worse or better then the Liverpool/Chelsea/Arsenal boards.

Gibson is alright, he's not made many Manchester United starts as he's still young.
The abuse based on the Carling Cup final is harsh, he was no worse or better then the rest, You're not shooting down Nani, O'shea, Welbeck et al.

/my opinions on that.
